I am a meat eater who would like to eventually cut out all meats...?!

Contrary to what some Internet trolls will say, there are many amazing soy meat choices. In fact, many of them so accurately replicate real meat that I've not only successfully tricked vegan-hating carnivores, but I myself can't really enjoy them! (I generally don't *like* the taste of meat.)
If you go vegetarian (ie, eggs/dairy is OK) then you'll have many more options than if you go vegan. Boca products are terrific for sausages and hamburgers. MorningStar does a lot of great things with fake chicken.
For bacon, specifically, I recommend Lightlife's "Smart Bacon". (Consequently, I also recommend their hot dogs.) The texture is good, although the shape isn't completely accurate (it's flat, rather than lumpy), but the taste is superb!
Now, I'm a poor judge, as I haven't had meat in a decade. However, I oft feed meat-replacement products to my meat-loving friends/family and they vouch for the similarities!
Although, you said nothing about why you're considering going vegetarian. If you're doing so for health reasons, while soy replacements are still a step in the right direction, processed food is your real enemy. Try grilling some portobello mushroom "steaks!" Omnom!

There are fake soy "bacons" on the market. But they don't taste like bacon. Of course they're processed. I mean, think about it. How are you going to make soy beans taste like bacon? By processing it and adding chemicals. When you find a package of soy "bacon", take time to read the ingredients. Yuk.
Don't apologize for being an omnivore. Your diet is your business; no one else's business.
This may just be me, but I find that faux-meats aren't that great... I've been a vegetarian for a while, and I have recently became a vegan. Whenever I used to eat the imitation hot dogs, of the boca products I always felt I was missing something, but everyone is different. The only way to really know if they will work for you is to try them.
I hear Morningstar has a good bacon substitute, but I haven't tried it. I think most fake meats will be pretty processed, to be honest, but it's not a bad thing to have sometimes. It's not like real bacon's good for you either haha.
So...you love real meat, and you want to find a substitute for the real meat...
Am I the only one who sees this as pointless? NOTHING made of soy even slightly approximates meat. If you love meat, you will never be a real veg-head.
