What made YOU become a vegetarian?!

Question: What made YOU become a vegetarian?
I was a vegetarian for two weeks. But then I gave up because it was hard for me. :( The reason I want to still become a vegetarian is because of the way animals are treated (I saw this video that made me cry). What about you?

Answers:

never really loved meat, it's not that great tasting ,just meh.

I like marmite on toast- that always satisfies the umami flavour

since being vegetarian and vegan later ( I eat raw vegan mostly, about 98% raw diet)
I got more ino the videos and how viscious and totally uneccessary and vile slaughterhouses are.
What give greedy humans the lordship of the animal kingdom? Their guns and weapons? Some power.

We are so arrogant and abusive for no reason other than greed.

I can't even begin to tell you how disgsuted I am by the treatment of completely inncoent creatures, who are stamped, hit, smeared and crushed to death, while all they want is to run free just like any human or kitten. Horrible and totally backward. I will never respect people who do this job either.

It is really hard to find places that have vegetarian food. Pizza hut has a vegetarian pizza that is good. I am like you the way animals are treated is horrible the worse is pigs. Why so many refuse to eat pork. It isn't good for you anyway.

We go to taco bell they do not use any animal products in the refried beans which some mexican restaurants do. They have bean burrito, 7 layer thing it does use dairy products but if that bothers you ask to have it left off.
McDonald's has a yogurt and walnut apple salad. It is very hard because I don't want to fill up on french fries. I do make Boca burgers that by the time you get the sauce, tomato, pickle, lettuce you don't taste the meat anyway. Or make a cheese Boca burger. I use that to make taco's enchiladas ,,and my own version of spaghetti. But it is hard and worse if you have a weight problem.

Well dear asker there are two reason that made me become a vegetarian. I hereby elaborate one by one.
1 Scientific Reason. There are following scientific reasons.
a) As per scientists the shape of our teeth does not support chewing non veg food, in comparison to non vegetarian mammals, being not very sharp and there are much more chances of non veg food stuff left in teeth, you might have seen, non veg eating persons teeth are more often damaged in comparison to vegetarians.
b) Secondly our small intestine does not support non veg food, being lengthy to the tune of 24 ft. Intestine of non veg mammals is too short.
This shows the human beings are basically vegetarians. You might have seen that all the long lived persons were generally vegetarian. Vegetarian people are more resistant to diseases that non vegetarian people. Non veg people are caught by diseases like hypertension blood sugar cold and cough etc than vegetarians.
Further scientists have noticed that the beast comes to know half and hour before its slaughter. This causes to a most distressed death. And the meat of such a beast causes the same quality in non veg eaters, means they become coward instead of brave.

2.Religious Reason. Now the most appealing reason comes from my religion (Sikhism), my religion does not allow to consume non veg food. Killing is sentient beings is strongly condemned in the scripture of holy book of Sikhism, it is a sin, tyrannical and obstruction in the path of spiritual progress. Therefore dear asker when I contemplated and studied the religious concept, that affected my heart extremely and I became totally teetotaler.

i saw this: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http… and i realized that those are animals, and why the heck am i eating them?
I've been a vegetarian since.

When I was 10 my mom decided to become a vegetarian. She explained what it meant and why she was doing it (loves animals, better for health, etc...). She told me I could try it with her, but if I didn't like it I could continue to eat meat. I hadn't really thought about where meat came from before then, and when it dawned on me that the hamburgers or bacon I was eating came from cute cows and pigs and I was disgusted. 21 years later and I haven't touched meat since!

A jar of tapeworms, actually. Learning about parasites had a profound effect on me and I just didn't want to risk having certain creatures growing up to 60 feet long inside of me, so I stopped eating meat. AFter that, I learned more about animal treatment, etc, and it made everything so much easier.

mostly becuz of the same reason as u but also becuz of men that treat us women as it we don't have feelings ...as if we are dead animals to be consumed ..used. if u Live in a city then find out if there are any hare Krishna meetings . They are really nice people and go there and see what it's like. after their service then they have a vegetarian meal . it's really good ! It's vegetarian .

I went vegetarian for moral reasons. I also always felt weird eating something coming from a slaughtered, dead animal. Watching videos of an animal being slaughtered didn't help me any. Now, I've been a vegetarian for 5 years.

I am and still are vegetarian after 8 months. It was because when saw like a sausage all I would see was a pig ect and would feel sick and didn't like the taste of meat.

I loved steak. LIKE I WAS IN LOVE... but I was fat and I didn't like it, so I cut meat out of my diet and now I'm at a healthier weight.

Yep. That's about it.

well im not but if i was it would be because of how they are treated and killed. i think that all people who love animals that we eat should be one though.

Born Vegetarian, Raised Hindu. Never have eaten a bite of meat. Never will.

i hate christ....thats why

I'm not
