EAT NATURAL FOODS

You can eat everything you used to that doesn't include meat, geltatin, or rennett in it. Which basically means, no jell-o or certain cheeses because they contain animal. Also, watch out for soups that contains animal broth or chicken fat in it. Besides that, you can eat everything you used to. Make sure your diet contains beans and peanuts for protein. If you're worried about not getting enough nutrients, you can take supplements, but its not a nesseccity.

Cutting out meat from your diet cuts out the major source of protein
Eating nuts is the best say to get protien and they are healthy and filling :)
Protein is especially important for your growth so keep track of protein

also take vitamins, especially the ones that mock the oils that come from fish (because just incase you didnt know, eating fish means you are not a vegitarian)
and these are important because it helps your skin and hair.

And to stop cravings for certain foods you wont be able to have, try the soy or tofu version, they taste quite good and are also healthier than some things (and ketchup goes with everything :) )

I'm 16 and don't eat meat, i have 3 vitamins per day...um...iron, some mockery of fish oil and zinc. I am 5' 3" like my mother so i dont think it has effected my growth, and im pretty healthy :)

I became a vegetarian at that age and I am still a vegetarian at age 32. Tofu is great when marinated with sesame oil and soya sauce. Add that to any vegi's for a stir fry. The best vegi burgers out there are made by yves. They also have great turkey deli slices and breakfast sausage. Also eggs are a great source of protein since you are still going to keep those in your diet. (FYI the Omega eggs have half the calories as the regular eggs for weight lose purposes) Hemp seeds are also great to add in many different foods like cereal or yogurt. They are a great source of iron, protein, and B12. Good luck

Just make sure you get enough of the meat and alternatives food group! This includes meat but there are many other alternatives you can have. Things like: Tofu, Tempeh, Nuts, beans and Quinoa are all healthy meat alternatives. Enjoy!

You'll have to excuse all the bored people on here making ridiculous comments.

I think it's great you'd like to be a vegetarian! Check out the Vegetarian Resource Group for information. Included on their site is a section devoted to teens and nutrition: http://www.vrg.org/nutshell/teen_veg.pdf… Another spot to check out: http://www.ivu.org/articles/children.htm…

Oh, and don't miss the Young Vegan section here: http://www.vegansociety.com/youngvegans/

If you have any concerns whatsoever with your diet, talk to a nutritionist.

A note for you: Fish is not vegetarian. If you want to be a pescatarian, great for you! Otherwise, taking cod oil is not acceptable for you as a vegetarian.

I suggest loading up on beans, whole grains, nuts, seeds, fruits, and veggies. There are tons of great sites out there with recipes. If you want help finding them, email me and I'll send you a list of sites to check out. Or just if you have any questions you'd like answers for about being a vegetarian, just shout at me and I'd be happy to answer.

Best of luck.

You can eat everything that doesn't have meat in it. Examples:Bean burritos, any Morning Star Farms or Boca products, pasta, salad, greens, fruit, cereal... the options are never-ending.

Vegan

Don't become one.

no vegetarian diet will give you all the nutrition you need to grow , no child or teenager should be vegetarian until 19 or 20 years old at the earliest, you may be repulsed by animal cruelty but whoever designed humans ensured that only meat could give a full spectrum of necessary nutrients, if you want to gamble with your health go ahead but it's not a wise move, there is no such thing as "junk food" you are paying too much attention to the food "nazis"

Don't become a vegetarian. The human body needs proteins from meat. I did the same thing when I was your age and had a severe protein deficiency. If you really want to though, take vitamins!

Dont become a vegitarian, they dont know how to eat.
