Can a person still be vegetarian if they still eat meat?!

Question: Can a person still be vegetarian if they still eat meat?
Is a person Vegetarian if they eat meat. Like in a very special occasions, I guess.

Answers:

Not really
A vegetarian doesn't eat meat. Period. There are no special exceptions, you're still eating an animal.

It's like someone saying they're a virgin but will only have sex on special ocassions. Doesn't make sense right!

I think so.. I mean, technically no but practically speaking if you were vegetarian or vegan 364 days of the year then you're a veg*n. If someone offered me a pepperoni pizza when I was starving I wouldn't pick out the pepperonis and toss them on the ground because that would be insulting and pointless in the scheme of things. On the other hand, I wouldn't be able to call myself a vegetarian if I ate a meat meal once a week. The point of calling yourself a vegetarian is so that others know you're a vegetarian so that they will acknowledge your dietary habits. It's the same as letting people know your that you're allergic to peanuts. But, you shouldn't lie to yourself if you choose to be a veg*n because that is a deeply personal choice and what you do should reflect that.

People can call themselves whatever they want. If someone wants to put their vegetarianism aside for the holiday and go back to it on Friday or Monday, who's to say they're wrong.? They're not vegetarian while they're stuffing their face with turkey, of course, but if they don't eat meat the next day, sure, they're vegetarian again. It's not illegal for someone to say "I'm vegetarian" and then eat meat.

No, vegetarians don't eat anything that's dead. meat is dead. If you only eat meat even just once a year you still wouldn't be a vegetarian. If you want to be able to call yourself a vegetarian, don't eat meat. If you want to eat meat only a few times a year, just say you eat very little meat but are not a vegetarian.
But no, you can't call yourself a vegetarian if you eat meat.

am a veggie

I don't think you could really call yourself a vegetarian. However, I think it is important to recognise that there is a difference between people who eat meat only rarely and those who eat it every day.
And while a person may not be a vegetarian, they would still like vegetarian options in restaurants.

I suppose so, although the very purpose of being a Vegetarian is to NOT eat meat. I suppose one could call ones self a vegetarian for the periods of time they go without meat, but if one was to eat meat they would no longer be a vegetarian.

I think it's rather impossible to be an "Omnivore" and a "Vegetarian" at the same time! You either are or you aren't. I still consider Vegetarians who accidentally mess up on occasion to still be vegetarians, However, its one mistake, and usually never repeated.

a vegetarian doesn't eat meat

walang sakit walang makakuha

I eat one slice of turkey on christmas with my family and thats all and i call myself a vegetarian since i eat no meat at any other time during the year. If people don't like it oh well too bad.

No. A vegetarian is a person who doesn't BELIEVE in eating meat and for that matter DOESN'T eat meat. They could still be a vegetarian if they have eaten meat before coming vegetarian but...

Of course not. A vegetarian is someone who never eats any meat, including poultry, fish, seafood and products containing things such as gelatin etc...

technically no, but in my opinion yes.

who cares?
theirs no official vegetarian laws.

anyways only silly people who are just being veggie for the label care about that kind of stuff.

NO! Vegetarians don't eat meat. If they do, they are not vegetarian anymore.

some people call themselves vegetarians when they really are not. If they eat meat, then they're not vegetarians.

O.M.G are you stupid!!!

NO !!!

Stupid question.

Vegetarians never eat meat.

well not if you want to be labelled a vegetarian.. But what you eat is up to you.

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose?

Umm, no. That would defeat the purpose.

No.

Pretty much, although not technically and not up to the standards of the rigid people.

I think that meat once in a while is fine, because someone once said "It's not what goes into a person's mouth that defiles the person, but rather what comes out of the mouth."

The rigid people (a couple of whom may have appeared on this thread) usually don't have enough sense or courtesy to not offend their host and to eat what's served.

Well, would you consider all asians as vegetarian? They predominately eat vegetables or fish, but can celebrate with meat for special occasions. I suppose some can go to the extreme of vegans if they want to. Many follow buddhism and eat lots of veggies as well as tofu (bean curd from soybeans).

Of course it can

Can a group be bad only because a person is bad,

From my perspective you has to do what makes you sleep better if you can eat meat

and that makes you feel more confortable in a group i think there is no problem

Remember all that matters is what makes your life go on as better as it can

You can be what some people call a 'Flexitarian', which is a person that eats meat only sometimes. They have a decreased meat intake, and live a vegetarian lifestyle otherwise.
