Hello Berlie

The saddest thing in the world is watching an animal being forced to breed with a human watching/holding/restraining it, yes it is rape. No matter if its a cow, horse, dog etc - its aweful. Its worse for the animals afterwards when their animal is torn away from them for the person to sell it for profit, disgraceful.

What it *COULD* mean is that by supporting the dairy industry, you are supporting humans forcing cows to do things against their will. Breastfeeding and sex are two different things. For two years and ten months with my first child (who is now three) my breasts served dual functions. Now, with my son, who is two weeks and two days old, they will be serving different functions again. (Trust me. I'm am not currently interested in doing anything, other than kiss my husband, that leads to what lead to our baby.)

I have voluntarily pumped my milk. It is not fun. When I was pregnant with my daughter (the elder child), I was already vegan for two years. When I pumped, I gained new sympathy and respect for the dairy cows who had no choice but to pump their milk. (Once, we were watching something on the History channel, I think and it showed cows being milked. My husband, who drinks cow's milk, even cringed.)

However, I do not agree with propaganda like that. I do not like in your face, shoving it down one's throat preaching. It does not win "converts" or even people who will open their mind to see the other's point of view. By looking at me, one would not tell that my my husband is a pastor or that I'm vegan. I like it that way. Bot come up in conversations, and it's fine. However, I don't see the need to broadcast either one. I did not come to faith by corner preachers. Nor did I come to veganism this way. While my father is a pastor, I did my own searching and research. I did my own research that lead me to become vegan. Also, my faith helped with that as well.

Congrats on wanting to know why drinking milk is rape!
If more people asked questions about animal rights instead of standing by, without knowledge and otherwise ignorant, we could have a more humane world.
As to some of the other, clearly uneducated answers such as "milk does a body good," do not listen. They are not advocates nor are they professionals, doctors or probably even educated beings of any sort.
You do not need milk for calcium. DONE. This is a proven medical fact. It is a marketing tactic by the govenment to keep the dairy industry going. Without doing too much research, lets ask a few questions... what mammal drinks milk past infancy? NONE. Humans are mammals. Next up, do any mammals need milk from other mammals? NO. Done. We need cow milk as much as we need cat milk or dog milk or pig milk.
As for the rape slogan, cows are CONSTANTLY kept impregnated so they keep lactating; their babies are stolen from them within hours of birth; they are hooked up to metal appliances that milk them on a regular basis daily, within a stall that is so small they can not turn around. I would call that rape. The metal is so tough on a cows nipple (imagine your own) that sores often appear and pus drips into the milk that is taken from her. The USDA has really awesome laws that "limit" the antibiotics that can be added so that consumers dont get sick because of the bacteria and pus.

So beyond rape, there is also nothing healthy about milk or dairy. It is high in fat and cholesterol. In other words, it is likey that some of the dumb answers you got to your thoughtful question came from fat people.

If you think you need calcium for stronger bones, talk to your doctor. There have been thousands of studies on this. You do not need milk past infancy; increasing calcium in later years will not increase bone density; and you can get more calcium from food and/or suppliments than milk/dairy.

As others have said, it refers to the fact that cows are artificially inseminated (which they obviously have no choice about), to make them pregnant, so the milk that they make for their calf when its born can instead be taken and sold to humans (the calf is taken away from its mother, so it can't drink it itself).

It's just a shock effect slogan.

Basically they're implying that because the milk is taken without the consent of the cow, it is the same as rape.

It's sadly typical of lobby groups. The exaggerate their case so much they lose credibility.

In order to keep dairy cows lactating, they have to constantly be impregnated. They are artificially inseminated their entire lives using what is commonly called a "Rape Rack".

vegan :D

Meat is murder, milk is rape. Basically you're still exploiting an animal and taking what they have, it's just being kept alive.

It's about Artificial Insemination of dairy cows. Most large dairies don't keep bulls on the property. They breed the cattle artificially to high producing dairy bulls worth $millions. Idiotic vegans call that "rape." They claim dairy owners "force" the cows to get pregnant, ignoring the fact that cattle have a natural breeding cycle (20-21 days) and you can't "force" them to conceive even if you breed them at the right time in the cycle. Meat from animals stressed in the slaughterhouses can be lower quality meat than from calm animals. The same with breeding cows. The calm cows, in good body condition are more likely to conceive than a stressed, thin cow. It's in the dairyman's best interest to properly manage his milking cattle.

Its a fanatic type vegan slogan. They like to try and shock people with these types of slogans. Typical vegan propaganda. It really doesn't matter to me what they say. I will still continue to eat and drink what I want. Its none of their or anybody else's business what I eat or drink. They will never stop anybody from eating meat or using animals products. They also will never stop anybody from drinking milk.

Christi what makes you think people just stand by without knowledge? What makes you think they are ignorant? Did it ever occur to you that they just have a different opinion than you? I have worked on a dairy farm and I STILL drink milk. I know exactly how we get milk. Just because someone has a different opinion doesn't mean they are uninformed.

Logic

I think it's supposed to be about grabbing the animals nipples to get the milk out of it. But if that's so then that is like saying a mother breastfeeding her child is having sex with a baby, which isn't true.

because to vegans milking a cow is the same as having sex with another by force.

its bullsh** milk does a body good.
