Vegan Faux Meat? Is it okay?!

Question: Vegan Faux Meat? Is it okay?
I mean, things like Tofurky and Yves veggie sausages. Is it really vegan? Is it safe for me to eat? Would it really contain any animal products? Could they not just lie, say that it's vegan to get the business and money. Also, is it super un healthy or. Or is it odd for a vegan to want to eat faux meat?

Personally I think that eating fake meat is eating fake food and I think it justifies omnivores claims that meat tastes good therefore it is ok to eat it. However there is a massive industry that supports this so you def won't be the only one, and at the end of the day what ever helps you avoid meat I'd good. I would treat it like junk food and only eat it sparingly

It should be. There are reports that some analogues out of China and Taiwan were tainted, but North American companies like Tofurkey, Yves, and Gardein should be safe. There's also a mail order company called Veggie Brothers (and they are expensive) that makes analogues.

If they were caught lying, they would find themselves out of business pretty quickly. It happened a few years ago when Emes, which claimed it made vegetarian "gelatin" was found out to be animal gelatin. And if someone with allergy eats something with said allergen and has a reaction because the company didn't disclose the ingredients, that could open them up to a lawsuit

As for health, well, it is processed, and that can be problematic for some.

As for it being odd, I don't think so. Many veg*ans grew up as carnists and went veg for ethical reasons. Why not eat something that mimics the flavor and texture without the cruelty?

Yes, it's vegan and yes it's safe. It's also very expensive. I would only eat that stuff sparingly because it's so processed. It is good for when you're transitioning though. It will help you replicate what you're used to eating until your cravings go away.

We use them in several different recipes a week, but only the boca ground. It's packed with protein and easy to throw into a recipe in place of hamburger.

I agree with Tamra... whats the point of being vegetarian if you're eating something thats supposed to replace real meat with something fake that has the same texture and flavor. if you like meat that much where you have to eat something that resembles its flavor and texture, then go back to being an omnivore. being a vegetarian is about not eating meat, and eating fake meat isnt really avoiding meat, because it was created to taste like meat. no offense.

vegetarian for 4 years.

Hello

I think for many people it is a good way for them to initially wean themselves of meat. However my opinion of it now is that it is not natural, highly processed, full of sugar and like cardboard and you are better of without it when you adjust your taste buds to fresh organic fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains etc.

Yes.It is vegan.if they lied, don't you think they would have already been sued? Its safe. No,it's not that unhealthy. It's better than eating actual sausages.
