I'm vegetarian but since I've got sick I've been craving meat like crazy...?!

Question: I'm vegetarian but since I've got sick I've been craving meat like crazy...?
I had a stomach bug for a couple of days and now I've been craving chicken and bacon badly, I've had vegetarian substitutes of both but nothing stops the craving, why am I getting these cravings so badly after being ill? I don't get cravings otherwise whether I've been ill or not...

Maybe you lost some fat from being sick; since meat is generally fattier than vegetable proteins? You could try eating some nuts and avocados, and cheese/milk/eggs if you eat them to try to regain fats. If that doesn't work you could talk to your doctor and see if your lacking any vitamin in your body.

good luck! I hope you feel better.

your body will be needing fats and protien to keep your immune system good for helping you get better

when your ill your body basically needs a bit more of what it usually gets to help th eimmune system and to fight and get rid of the virus/bacteria whatevers making you ill

try spices, they are great for being ill, curry sauce and chips is good in both sences, its fatty, and has lots of spices (spices clear out the system, they basically stir it up makingit react)

I'm a vegetarian also and whenever I get sick this always happens!!!
The fake meats arent gonna help whatsoever.
All you have to do is just drink some water and think if eating meat again is going to be worth it.
One thing you could also do is have some BBQ sauce.
That helps usually for me. :)

You may be lacking protein. Try eating more soy beans and tofu (fry it, chop it into a soup, if you must :) ) and more eggs, maybe you wanna try one of those protein bars (when first starting vegetarian, I LOVED the chocolate coated ones).

Your body is stressed and craving nutrient rich meat to repair itself. Be patient, those cravings will probably go away when you get well. If they don't, you should probably reassess your diet. You might be missing something.

Because you're used to eating meat. You'll get over it. Watch www.meat.org and that should help. When I craved meat in the beginning, that's what I would do.
