C - Being a vegetarian is NOT cheaper. If it was, most of the 3rd world nations would be vegetarian (but they aren't). Anyway, to the poster... Yes, that is the main reason for people becoming vegetarian. They may choose to stay that way for a variety of other reasons, but the animal killing reason is numero' uno.

Of course it's true. It's also true that people are vegetarians for their health, for environmental reasons, because they don't like the taste, because they can't digest meat properly and it makes them feel sick, for religious reasons, because they want to be different and interesting, because they want to rebel against their parents, because they're teenagers looking for an identity, because it's cheaper, because they don't like the thought of what it is... the list is endless.

In my experience though, not wanting to kill animals is the biggest reason, with health also a big factor.

I became a vegetarian because I didn't want to support and buy into the meat industry and its disgusting ways of slaughter and animal maintenance. Now that I have become a vegetarian, I have stayed that way not only for the animals but because my health has been amazing since. I haven't gotten a cold or even gotten the flu during the cold and flu seasons and its awesome! Not to mention I lost 10 pounds and have a load of energy now.

I don't even want to watch those videos. Yes I am vegetarian because I don't like killing animals when it's not even essential to our health anyway. In fact vegetarians can be much healthier than meat-eaters, have longer life expectancies and have much more natural and harmles lives. Animals might not be able to express themselves the same way we can, but just because we don't understand them doesn't mean we have to kill them.

Some vegetarians follow their diets because of this, but others follow it just because they can, because it is unnecessary, out of disgust for the industry, to reduce environmental impact, health reasons, religious reasons, or because their family does so.

Vegan.

Hello

Killing, Animal Pain & Abuse, Exploitation, Growth Hormones, Worms, Anibiotics, Herbicides, Illnesses the list goes on and on. But in general you will find it is because of animal cruelty.

That's the reason I'm vegetarian, I don't see why we should kill animals for food when it is not necessary for good nutrition.

Vegetarian since 1984
