Is it hypocritical to support abortions but be against eating eggs?!

Question: Is it hypocritical to support abortions but be against eating eggs?
This question is mainly aimed at liberal/left wing vegans (not vegetarians). The biggest argument against eating animals or what they produce is it's somehow inhumane or immoral to the animals. Well, if eating a chicken egg is immoral, how can you consider abortions NOT immoral? Either way you are prematurely ending the life of an unborn "animal". That seems a bit hypocritical, don't you think?

Answers:

Hypothetically,

You could be opposed to eating eggs due to battery farming conditions. You could support abortion in the case of rape victims who have fallen pregnant. I'm not sure as I see any hypocrisy here.

To be fair though, I've never really understood some of the more extreme views. Free-range chickens get to run and cluck as nature intended, and laying an egg is a side effect of being a chicken. But it's down to every individual to decide on their own moral code and lifestyle choices, so good luck to them.

You're forgetting one thing: the woman who is getting an abortion wasn't locked in a filthy cage her entire life and mutilated. Also, she chose to have an abortion; the chicken didn't choose to give you her menstrual cycle.

vegan :D

I'm probably going to get thumbs down for this answer, but yes, I do find it hypocritical.

However, most chicken eggs sold in the market are not fertile, and therefore, don't really contain an unborn chicken.
