Any other vegetarian/vegans want to help stop factory farming?!

Question: Any other vegetarian/vegans want to help stop factory farming?
First I want to apologize for posting this twice, it's very important to me and I feel like I need to get the word out. So I want to basically stop factory farming, well maybe not stop it exactly because that would be really hard and maybe impossible, but more like improve the conditions of animals in it. I don't eat meat anymore, but i feel that there is nothing wrong with eating meat itself, but the way the animals are treated in factory farms and killed in slaughterhouses is wrong. In fact it's animal abuse, except no one (like law wise) cares that a cow can't turn around or that a pig is suffocating in it's own fumes (yes that DOES happen, I don't care if you live in "dairy county" or whatever and have a lot of REAL farms around you, just look up factory farming, I highly doubt Peta and other organizations faked them all) but they can go to jail or whatever for kicking a dog (not that kicking a dog is okay, that's bad too but I'm just making a point) I mean what kind of logic is that. The only problem though is a lot of people are trying to make everyone vegans and saying people who eat meat are idiots who will burn in hell (seriously, I saw a video on youtube about factory farming and people were saying that in the comments) I mean lets face it, most people are omnivores and that will never change and they shouldn't be trying to change the people, they should change the problem, the treatment in factory farming. I want to help but I don't know how, I don't think not eating meat is going to help enough, I want to make a change, but go at it logically (not just try and convert everyone to vegetarianism) I think the main problem is people ignore what's going on or are uninformed. I made a video on youtube earlier ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLXvHP2LT… if anyone wants to check it out) but it's not really that good and probably won't help a lot. So how can I help? Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm only a teenager and don't know any other vegetarians so there isn't a lot I can do with anyone else or with an organization. So anyone have any suggestions? Are you doing anything to help?

Answers:

you are still young enough to learn and take some courses in animal husbandry and herd management, take some engineering courses and learn as much as you can about herd dynamics. there is a woman named Temple Grandin who is autistic but is trying to make changes in feed lot and slaughter houses to make it better for the livestock and ease the stress in them. change comes from within and not from pressure from outside sources, the more outside pressure there is the tougher the owners (most know little about livestock but only want the bottom line money) resist therefor in order to make a change it must be presented to them that they can make more money by doing thing differently. there is way too much of a dependency on livestock products to eliminate them so you need to try to make things better so the livestock is less stressed, after that then you need to take in the "humans" that perform the process to weed out the bad apples.

I don't want to just stop factory farming and I for sure don't want to make conditions better in these facilities. I want to do a lot more because all of that is nice tiny little itty bitty baby steps but animals will still be treated as property and used and abused in other industries including other food industries.
We shouldn't try and reform a broken system that was built broken we should destroy the entire thing. It will take a lot of work but it will be more rewarding then making a slaves life only a tiny iota better for a short period. The concept of welfare and humane treatment in a society that treats animals as slaves as well as some humyns doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I don't want any animals to get humane treatment because we can look at history and see how well humyns treat each other. I want them to be free and freedom cannot come through welfare but liberation and the abolishment of property status.

The main thing for most folks to do is educate and explain that all use and abuse of animals is wrong. This is a great video too show in public either on a portable T.V. or using a projector:
http://youcanhelpstopthis.com/ (they also have the info on how to spread the word and play the vid in public)
I like it a lot because it is hard to watch (as in graphic) and it goes over just about everything.

It is a great remake of an old classic zine perfect too hand out to politically active folks especially those calling themselves anarchists or radicals.

It is also important to educate people on veganism and not say you cannot change people. I was a hardcore meat eater for most of my life I recently became vegan (after a short stint as a vegetarian) It is possible and has happened and continues to happen and can happen more through education. What we all need to understand is that carnists are necessarily idiots but have been taught that animals are property and for us to exploit and we reinforce that all the time so it can be very hard to unlearn that. I know I am still unlearning a lot of what I was taught for years. However it is crucial we work at it. People can change and must change. You just need to work at it

Another great thing to do is learn more about animal liberation, study it and learn about activist security and other skills as well as learning about animals and the earth because being well educated is very important.

The forecast is not bleak there is a lot of people working at it from different angles some doing really awesome work. We can win the fight against animal exploitation if we work hard and never give up!

Vegan because animals are not property
