good for you!! Thats so cool that you want to break away from your family's bad eating habits, i admire you!!

eating stuff that your not used to can cause your gag reflex to kick in, your body's way of telling you that somethings different/ wrong.

Try making yummy veggies, like dip carrots, celery, peppers, cucumber, etc in hummus, salsa, guac, or spread that you like. Maybe you could find some salad dressing that you like to add to salad to make it taste better, Italian dressing's delicious. Also you could put something that you like already on top of your salad, like some grated cheese, crisp croutons, or some goldfish (crackers). You could make fruit smoothies with raspberries, strawberries, some yogurt or milk, a little honey to sweeten it, and you've got great healthy fruit.

Also, have you tried V8 juice? It's basically thick tomato juice thats delicious over ice. Theirs a full serving of veggies in a little bit.

And don't worry about mushrooms, no-one seems to like them (i love them though.) maybe you'll surprise yourself and eat some one day. It's all about taking small steps.

Good luck! :D

First, remember that ALL foods are an acquired taste--the only thing we are born liking is breast milk. So you can learn to like almost anything.

Second, try experimenting with different preparations and flavors. You might find you like some things raw, but others cooked. If you don't like green salads, experiment with ones made with beans and whole grains. Sometimes, you'll find it isn't the taste that bothers you, but the texture, and you can handle a particular vegetable if it's pureed and added to a sauce.

And don't give up. It can take being exposed to something eleven to twenty times before we become accustomed to it. So Keep trying, even if you don't think you'll like it. There are literally hundreds of vegetables--you'll eventually find a few that you like.

"vegetarian" does not just mean "eats vegetables."

Pasta, noodles, rice, beans, lentils... dishes in sauces which 'hide' the veg (stir-fries, curry...)

You can do a world-class chilli 'non' carne without any chunks of veg whatsoever. Veggie mince, kidney beans, a ragu-style tomato sauce, onions, herbs, veggie stock; when you're feeling more adventurous, maybe introduce diced peppers, chopped mushrooms, sweetcorn? I've made this for carnivorous friends in the past and they've not believed me when I've told them it's veggie, and it's a world apart from a soggy salad.

You just have to find a way of preparing them that's to your liking.
Though I hate carrots and crunchy salad just as much as you do...
But you can make stuffed mushrooms or something of the sort, that usually helps them taste better.
Or for asparagus, roast them in the over after covering them in olive oil, salt and pepper. Yep.

You can still eat healthy without eating carrots or mushrooms. There are a lot of different vegetables and they all taste different from one another and have their own benefits. So maybe try a bunch of different kinds of veggies to see which ones you like.

Try steaming yur veggies in the microwave:put broccoli, carrots on plate with a little water over them and paper towel over it for 2mins.eat with caesar roman lettuce and maybe low fat ranch or italian dressing?yum

Certain things taste better if you cook them ex add a little sugar to tomatoes o those r fruit lol well adding butter to asparagus is really good you can get tips online and experiment
