What are some good vegetarian wedding menu ideas?!

Question: What are some good vegetarian wedding menu ideas?
I am a fairly new vegetarian and want to have some good vegetarian dishes at my wedding, does anyone have any suggestions?
I would like the options to be delicious and less intimidating to non-vegetarian guests :) I want them to still feel full when they leave :)

Answers:

If you're using a caterer, find one who specializes in vegetarian/vegan catering. One idea would be to do Indian food. It's pretty much all vegetarian and all delicious.

It's also not hard to do Italian all vegetarian if not vegan (you could have a salad bar, good bread, then a pasta bar with alfredo and marinara sauces, oven-roasted Italian vegetables, eggplant parmesan, manicotti stuffed with cheese, etc)

Here was one couple's solution: http://blog.mlive.com/grpress/2008/01/co…

Here was one menu another couple did:

Truffled-mushroom duxelle pizza
Eggplant caviar topped with cumin crème fra?che served on warm naan bread
Stationary Gado Gado vegetable crudite platter with spicy peanut sauce
Assorted breads including roasted garlic and goat's cheese toast, rustic olive, multigrain and mini croissants
Cucumber, tomato, red onion and feta salad with fresh oregano and olive oil
Spinach salad with hard-boiled egg, emmental, almond and mushrooms tossed with a white wine-dijon dressing
Curried chickpea and red onion salad
Grilled asparagus with lemon aioli
Roasted cauliflower tossed with peccorino romano and sea salt
Egg noodles with sun-dried olives and tomato-vodka sauce
Rosemary scented potato salad
Crêpes with sautéed red onion, spinach, basil, gouda and parmesan with tomato cream sauce
Wild mushroom lasagne with portobello, crimini, enoki, chanterelle, fresh basil and parmesan-mornay sauce

A vegan couple did this for their wedding:

Canapés:
Asparagus Barquettes
Roasted Red Pepper Hummus Tartlets
Spinach and vegan cheese Filo Rolls
Falafels with a soya yogurt dip

Starter:
Mushroom Pate
With Ciabatta Bread

Main Course:
Mixed Pepper & Almond Nut Roast en croute with tomato & basil sauce
New Potatoes
Avocado and Insalata Salad(Lettuce, baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, avocado, mushrooms, croutons served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar)

Dessert:
Chocolate and Orange Tofu Cheesecake

Good luck with your wedding! (My daughter is getting married at a local winery in August and we're already crazy - lol)

At my own wedding a few years back, long before I became a vegetarian. We offered chicken, beef, fish and a veggie dish so as to incorporate as many different tastes as we could.
The vegetarian dish we chose was Pasta Primavera. a delicious tomato sauce with lots of spring veggies in it, served on penne pasta and accompanied by crusty garlic bread.
I saw several omnivorous friends dig into it and praise it wildy afterwards

Life

if i were you i would choose an ethnic group of food, like chinese, and make dishes from there. many people like chinease or mexican and they would probably love to try something like that cause it's a bit familiar.
oh and someone said that you should feel obligated to serve meat on your wedding day, that's ridiculous. As a vegan, i would NEVER complain to someone if they didn't have food for me to eat at their wedding. it's their wedding! I can't even imagine.when does that become unaccpetable? what if someone is a meat eater and they are served chicken but not beef, do you leave a complaint? no, suck it up for a couple of hours and if you can't fatham a meal without meat in it eat afterwards. that's what i do. people are there to see you get married, not to eat.

Think; soup, breads, pasta/gnocchi, mushrooms, risotto.
1. Speak to the caterer and come up with 2 choices of veg. for the main as well as 2 others (meat or fish, or meat or chicken is usual.)
2. You can make your first course/entree all vegetarian with a choice of 2 meals which will suite everyone. Like soup, pasta, risotto.
3. On your invitations provide a box to tick if they want a vegetarian main meal.

Vegetarian lasagna with garlic bread is something that everyone can enjoy. You can also have a salad bar and fresh fruit.

Another idea, if you like mexican food, is cheese enchiladas, with vegetarian refried beans and mexican rice.

The Thai are great vego meal makers I suggest looking at some of those recipies because they can be both good for vegetarians and meat eaters.

Baked stuffed squash. Stuff with seasoned wild rice, sauteed onions, chopped walnuts and raisins.

You second statement is the partial answer. You have stated that omnivores (who represent the overwhelming majority of food consumers) will also be at your meal. Therefore, choose selections that include both vegetarian plates as well as a few omnivorous choices. It would be rude for you to assume that your guests should conform to your dietary norms.
