Vegetarian but getting temptations?!

Question: Vegetarian but getting temptations?
Ok so there not temptations in a very strong way, but very recently i have been craving meat. I'm not a week vego and it's only been resently, I have also been thinking about going vegan. ( I have not eaten meat in over a year, and most meats since I was 8).

So my question is how do I stop the "temptations"?
(I have been thinking about slaughter houses mainly)

Please no none-vegetarians I don't want people telling me that being a vegetatian is dumb, because that is NOT what I asked.

Im vegetarian and if you wanna eat it go ahead, have it once in a while. I do it for health reasons not animal rights reasons so i think that if you do it in moderation that's not gonna be bad. Personally i could never touch the stuff again i think its gross but if ur craving it then go have some.

Quite a few years ago, I went vegetarian and vegan, and rejected all temptations. When I finally fell off the horse, I was a meat eater again for about 5 years. Normal, American meat eater, who ate meat with pretty much every meal. About a year ago I became a vegetarian again. When I had meat cravings, I satisfied them. At first, the only meat I had was fish, and that maybe once a week. Then I had a few beef cravings. By about last June, I was able to go an entire month without eating any meat at all, and then I went vegetarian totally. I haven't had a meat craving since... but I guess what I'm saying is there's a line from the Keanu Reeves movie about the Buddha, which I guess is probably actually attributed to the Buddha, If you tune a sitar string too tightly it breaks... if it's too slack it won't produce sound either.

In other words, if you think your diet might break you, have meat today, and avoid it as long as possible again.

One of the best ways to reduce temptations is to remind yourself how the meat you would be eating is made. A great video to watch would be "Meet Your Meat," or you can just read up about the benefits of being a vegetarian on the PETA site. They normally include photos, videos, and statistics that will make all cravings go away :P

Another great way is to buy fake meat! It may sound gross, but it's very good. I recommend Morning Star, and Boca. Some of it tastes so real, that you won't even know it's fake!
Good luck! [:

I used to be a vegetarian, and am currently a vegan! :D

I've no idea if it's actually true or not, but I was once told that a craving is your body's way of flagging up a deficiency in something. Perhaps what you're really craving is a big dose of protein or salt rather than meat itself?

On the back of that, maybe eat something meat-like? TVP / Quorn / veggieburgers / veggie hot dogs, etc?

if you are vegetarian because you think its cruel try thinking about free range and organic meat

if you are vegetarian because you don't like the taste of meat i cant really help there

its our choice whichever you choose

vegetarian for 3 years until last year.

Tear that meat up lol i eat meat but only thing i can tell you is do what you wanna do inside your the only one that can make the choice so its up to you oh and about the horses font eat them if you do that would be nasty lol well for me anyways
