Vegan eating local honey - do you have an opinion?!
However, I am also into healing teas and I found this great receipt for a cough syrup but it calls for honey. I would much prefer to use Agave Nectar however I know that these receipts must be followed exactly to have an effect.
I found a local honey farmer and think that maybe this would be an OK route to get honey. Any veg*ns have an opinion? Do you sometimes give in for the benefit of medicine or healing teas?
I'm just a little lost. If you know the process that small local farmers go through to get the honey that would be a great help!

I don't think it's a good choice to do this. It's going against everything we (I'm vegan too) stand for, local or not. Bees DO get killed in the process of honey farming. I suggest something that helps me: 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar a day. Once in the morning, once at night until you feel better. Worked wonders on me, and didn't harm any buzzing bees. Hope this helps!

I wouldn't. The recipe might be good, but honey won't just "fix" your illness. Honey is just sugar. Bee vomit, actually. There are other, better things you can do to feel well. "Local" doesn't mean anything in terms of veganism, it's just better for your local economy.
Vegan
If you can see the conditions under which the bees are kept and can confirm that they are not killed during the extraction of the honey, blah, blah, well, it's not vegan, but it's an option.
Can you find a recipe that doesn't involve honey?
Found a site (see link below) that offers a pretty good argument as to why vegans should not eat honey.

honey has parents and feelings ..how on earth could you eat it...
also, if you ate properly you would not be worrying about a cough....
