Weird incident with tofu?!

Question: Weird incident with tofu?
Okay this is going to sound seriously stupid. My sister and I were about to cook some tofu but when she started frying the tofu, it set on flames and grew bigger(about 3/4 a metre high) like no ones business. Anyone know why the tofu would do such a thing :S? Chemist help out a little here :o?
Was it the frozen water and oil? Or was it because the surface of the tofu was hard? :S

Water and oil do NOT mix and that will start a fire, as you've seen. If you're going to fry anything - and I do mean anything - you need to pat it dry inside and out. In the US (where I live right now) it's quite popular for people to deep fry their turkey. This is what happens when people don't pat them dry thoroughly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fF7MtfDDp…

it wasn't the tofu
likely you used oil to brown it, and its the oil that caught on fire
