Going organic for 2011: how can I go organic while being vegan?!

Question: Going organic for 2011: how can I go organic while being vegan?
Sounds like a dumb question,
but I really want to eliminate most unhealthy processed foods
from my diet (I'm a teen vegan, and I eat too many Oreo's) and replace
them with healthy, organic (of course, vegan) options.

I hope to do this starting 100% on January 1, 2011.

I simply want to go organic overall.
Will that be possible?

And I know going organic often comes with going vegan
(eating healthier, more conscious of what you're eating..)
but what should I look out for? What can I eat vs. not eat?

I'd speak to a nutritionist/dietitian but I thought I'd ask
on here first to see if any of you guys eat entirely organic,
or would have any advice :)

I hope this wasn't confusing and didn't make me look stupid.

Try going to your local health food store, they usually have a variety of organic products. Or you could go to a larger organic grocery store such as Whole Foods or Trader Joes where they have an organic replacement for any food you can think of.

Im not sure myself. But if you go to your local organic grocery store, Im sure someone there will have some great advice for you. good luck:)

I just went organic in July and would suggest everyone try it.

I totally suggest you watch Food, Inc.; it will give you so much information on the issues surrounding our food industry and it'll be easier to understand exactly WHY it's important to be organic, not just for your health.

Other than that, I blog about my journey here: http://saraant.wordpress.com/

I've found that it's not more expensive to go organic, if you're eating out now, that will most likely stop unless you have plenty of organic restaurants in your area.

Good luck!!

Ps. Oreos are vegan??

Every possible source out there, I've read... there's a lot to learn but soooo worth the work!

Going organic isn't difficult, but can be expensive. If you eliminate processed foods then all you need to worry about are the "dirty dozen" fruits and vegetables, which should be purchased organic as they contain the most pesticides.

As for processed foods, there are many brands that make organic products, but you may have to shop your local health food store to find them. One word of wisdom: Even though you may be purchasing organic, vegan processed food, it's still processed and will not be very healthy. If you want to stick with your 2011 resolution, try to eliminate as much processed food as possible, even the organic vegan ones.

Good luck.

Vegan for over 10 years and purchase a lot of organic food.

They actually make organic oreos I have seem them at the market once but government is kinda loose on the whole organic label on some products so chips and cookies are healthier than traditional chips and oreos they honestly might not be 100% natural or healthy. I am not an expert on a vegan diet but If possible shop at stores like whole foods and trader joes even most supermarkets have store brand organic now. Just eat fruit & veggies pretty sure organic oatmeal might be safe and like I said buy organic cookies like newmans alpabet cookes they are awesome :)

Good luck sorry I couldn't be more specific on the diet of a vegan I just don't want to give you false information.
