How many calories should i eat to lose weight?!

Question: How many calories should i eat to lose weight?
Ok i have a rock and roll stepper thingy but it gets my heart rate up and it works. Anyway, I have been trying to lose for a while but it doesn't seem to work anymore. I'm 5'6 and 214 pounds I exercise daily from 30-60 mins. I'm very picky when it comes to food so i don't really eat crap. I eat pretty good and have recently gone vegan/vegetarian, i love vegetables, and fruit and god stuff like that. The reason why i don't eat meat is mainly because i only liked chicken so it wasn't such a big deal giving it up.

Oh and how long should i exercise and how many calories should i burn? thanks.

Good for you on your new lifestyle! I am the same as you and not being able to lose weight anymore is often known as a plateau. Here are some things to do to avoid plateaus.
1. Up your calorie intake for 2 weeks to 2,000 cal per day
2. Then take off 100 cal per day until you are at 1,200 cal and eat that for 2 weeks
3. Then go back up 100 cal per day until you are at 1,800 cal for 3 days,
4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 until you are at your ideal weight!!

You should be exercising for 45 minutes before breakfast, lunch and dinner on an EMPTY stomach to boost metabolism! I was given this plan by a vegan nutritionalist and I am 5'5 and started at 240 lbs I have lost 60 pounds in 4 months!!

Under 1,000 calories per day.
You also should talk to a nutritionist.

Experience

try 200 calories per meal or a carb a day like for lunch u get chinese then for dinner have a salad or soup

Depends on how many calories you burn off, generally you want to eat less calories than you burn off. That being said there is a healthy way to intake less calories and burn more, and a bad way. you want to keep your metabolism high, so you don't want to starve yourself or over work yourself. not only does fat burn, muscle weight does too and muscles are very important too keeping yourself fit, they burn energy (CALORIES!) and keep tone. It`s all about finding the right balance for yourself. if you`re unsure what would suit you best, check out a nutritionist or a work out specialist to help you figure out the best plan suited to your needs!! Calories are found in ALL foods, not just meats, anything with Sugar, natural or not contains calories.. apples alone can have up to 100 calories in them. Don`t dismiss calories though, foods high in protein like nuts have plenty of calories in them, but they also serve as building blocks for muscle, and thus are very important, especially in a vegan diet!! You want to eat balanced foods, even fruits are dangerous if you eat too many, and work off just a bit more than what you take in. it takes time, ambition and determination, but it works!!

i use this site to see how i`m doing, it tells me if i`m in taking the correct ammounts of vitamines ETC in my diet and also counts calories burnt and injested ( and it`s FREE!!) :

start by figuring how much you do take in, and drop it!

Pick the weight you want to be, in pounds. Multiply by 13. That's the number of calories you should eat daily, to slowly lose up to, and maintain that weight for the rest of your life. (Unless you exercise a lot).

Unfortunately, your body strives to maintain its weight and gets very efficient at living on reduced calories, making it difficult to lose weight after a time.

One way that seems to work for me to get over these "plateaus" is to average that daily number of calories on a weekly basis, but vary it on a daily basis.

For example, say you want to weight 125 pounds so your daily calorie count is 1625. A couple of days a week, eat a lot of calories, like 2300, and the other days eat less, like 1300. A couple of days a week of a surplus of food keeps your body from going into "starvation mode" but your weekly count is the same, so you lose the weight.

Calories is simply the energy given off a food in joules, I'm amazed why people think cutting calories helps lose weight it shows a total lack of knowledge on the human body. Yes cutting say 100-200 calories may do something but dropping off 500 calories a day is just going to reverse weight loss.

If you want to lose weight you need to do excercise + have a well planned diet or even just a half well planned one. That excercise has to be strenous on the body, swimming & jogging are two great forms mainly due to it using so many muscles & being so natural to how humans are built for locomotion.
You need to eat whatever a females calorie intake is 1500 or 2000? i can't remember, the brain uses up to 1000 calories a day just keeping the body running or alive.

You need to talk to a personal trainer or somebody who is qualified & i mean proper qualified & traceable, all you will get off the net is ''experts''

vegetarian
interest in nutrition + i'm a sporty guy
