Do I need to wash clementine before I peel it?!

Question: Do I need to wash clementine before I peel it?
cuties california clementine to be exact. ;)
I'm worried of pesticides but I also heard clementine is already washed out from the factory before it's packed. Even if I should wash it, I honestly don't think water will wash out all the pesticide... What removes the pesticide 100%?
Thank you ^ ^

At first your question sounded very strange, because you're going to remove (peel off) what you just washed. I don't see how washing it would remove pesticides from inside the orange.

But pesticides or (probably more importantly) bacterial contamination could be transferred to the contents or your hands as you peel them.

I remember cantaloupe growers who had to recall their bacteria-covered products saying "if people just washed the cantaloupes they'd be fine." Who does that?

As there are things on fruit and veggies other than pesticides it's a good idea to always wash them before using them be it peeling and eating them raw or preparing them for cooking. If pesticides are you main concern you should be buying organically grown as they don't allow (by law) pesticide use.

Its best to wash any fruit coz when you are peeling the fruit without a wash you are transferring all of the germs/ pesticides into the fruit when you pull it apart with the same hands. Water is the best or go for organic if you can afford the crazy prices.

It's advised to clean every fruit you plan to eat with water. It can have pesticides or micro-organisms. From what I know, there is no way to remove pesticides 100%, but you can reduce it.

Experience

Always wash your produce, even if you're not eating the peel or skin.
The only way to be pesticide-free is to buy organic or grow your own.
Enjoy your clementine!

First, check the store that you're buying it from. Here's a link suggesting how to wash fruits and vegetables since not everyone can afford buying only organic foods.

Just and peel it and eat it.

If there was any danger to your health, they wouldn't be allowed to sell them. I'd say you'd be fine.
