Can you use soy milk in hot chocolate powder?!

Question: Can you use soy milk in hot chocolate powder?
I know soy milk doesn't blend when I put it in coffee, I was wondering how it would act if I heat it up for hot chocolate.

Answers:

I've used it for hot chocolate before. It blends a little better than with coffee, though it's still not perfect. I've heard almond milk is better for that sort of thing, but haven't gotten around to testing it yet.

Soy milk actually makes really great hot chocolate. I'm not a huge fan of soy milk's taste when it is cold, but when it is heated it is totally different. I have a vegan, fair trade hot chocolate mix, and the canister recommends heating it over the stove, not in the microwave, to help the powder dissolve better.

You can heat soy milk, but you run the risk of affecting the texture, not unlike if you were boiled cow milk.

Just a note: if you're using soy milk to avoid dairy, check the label on your hot chocolate: some powdered mixes contain powdered milk.

You can use soy milk in anything

Hot chocolate powder has milk in it, so I don't see too much of a point. Why not use real cocoa powder, sugar and milk?

I personally think soy milk makes the best hot chocolate.

Sure you can. But why would ruin good hot chocolate powder?

Not if you actually want people to drink it.
