Most people get more than twice the protein they need in a day. I'm vegan and I still get all the protein I need just by eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans and nuts. As long as you're getting enough calories from healthy foods you are fine.

The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for protein is set at 0.8 grams (g) per kilogram (kg) of body weight. In order to figure out your weight in kg, divide your weight in pounds by 2.2. So if you weigh 150 pounds (68.2 kg), you need about 55 grams of protein. You can also use 0.36 grams per pound of body weight if you don't want to convert to kg.

Vegetarians eat eggs and drink milk, but vegans don't. So if you're just vegetarian, you can eat eggs and dairy.

There are no protein pills, but there are protein powders you can blend into smoothies, etc.

There is at least a little protein in pretty much all foods, and you'd be surprised at how little protein you actually need (most Americans consume too much), and which foods are surprisingly great sources of it. Beans, nuts, whole grains, and alternatives to peanut butter (such as almond butter or cashew butter), are all fantastic sources of protein, as well as tofu and other soy products. Keep in mind there are 8 essential amino acids within protein that you need to consume, and different foods have different amino acids and in different amounts - which means you must eat a wide variety of protein-rich foods.

you can eat eggs and drink milk if you choose to be a lacto-ovo vegetarian
beans, nuts and grains all have protein in them too.

Depending on what type of vegetarian you want to be you can eat eggs, milk or even fish unless you want to become vegan. To get other forms of protein you can eat soy products like tofu which is pretty much tasteless so it will pick up any flavors you add to it. Of you can eat different types of beans, garbanzo beans, kidney beans, pinto beans etc. Also if you mix whole grains, or beans with green vegetable you can obtain proteins because each of those items separately contain what us called incomplete proteins so combining them will give you a complete protein.

I would also recommend you take a B12 vitamin because that can only be found in red meat if you lack if for too long you are more likely to get sick or get colds easier.

I hope this helps
