In the US, about 50% of cane sugar contains bone char, and thus isn't vegan. It's next to impossible to tell from packaging where it's sourced. Beet sugar is refined differently and is fine.

It is simply a matter of comfort. "Bi-products" may include gelatin or not, seeing as how it does not come from the actual meat, so much as the bone (or in some instances, hooves, or even in more rare cases, flesh).

Cane sugar is filtered through bone char. That, obviously, is animal bone. If you feel uncomfortable about eating animal bone (gelatin), I would expect you feel uncomfortable as well eating another product that was simply filtered through animal bone.

Beet sugars, raw sugars, and (most) organic sugars are 100% vegan, not requiring any animal bone to filter them.

Vegan.

Sugar comes from a plant.........................

lol ice cream is made out dairy.

And also you said your not eating meat or bi-products from animals?? Then your not a vegetarian...your a Vegan!

I'm not a vegetarian or vegan...but it seems like I know more about it than you. I will continue to enjoy eating tasty little creatures that we are ever so meant to eat.

Hey dear,

You are really worried about this thing.
Sugar is made up of sugarcane and it's not at all non-veg.
