Do you HAVE TO get your protein from meat to be healthy or are there other sources that's just as great?!

Either way, as long as you know the proper combination for Essential Amino Acids
?
Protein is a nutrient, just like fat, carbohydrate, vitamin C, magnesium, and vitamin A. To suggest that you can only get it from one food is ludicrous. You wouldn't accept it if someone told you that you HAVE TO get your vitamin C from oranges just because they are a well-known and rich source of it, would you? Of course not. So don't believe it about protein and meat, either.
Meat is an excellent source of protein. That is a fact. However, you can get protein from other places. Not too many plant sources of protein are "complete" (meaning they contain all of the amino acids), but there are a couple (quinoa and soy are examples). If you aren't eating "complete" protein, be sure that you are getting a variety of sources throughout the day so you cover your amino acid bases. This is as easy as eating both legumes and grains in a day.
Best wishes!
I've been vegetarian for 12 years.. I found help in balancing it from a nutritionist. I eat a lot of cottage cheese, cheese, 1 cup of beans are good protein, also tempeh is a good source of protein as well as tofu, just don't overdo... If you can eat nuts or seeds, these are also good but it takes at least a handful of them to give you a good amount of protein. I feel pretty good as a vegetarian with great amounts of energy and strength.
Hi, you absolutely do not need meat to get protein. There are plenty of other sources which can meet your requirements. For example;
-Pulses such as beans and lentils
-Nuts+seeds
-Tofu
-Grains
-Soya milk/yogurt
As long as you eat a healthy, balanced diet including the foods named above there is no need to eat meat.

proteins are proteins... the source from which you get them doesn't matter... what does matter is the amount of protein you get. So because meat contains allot of protein you need to eat less to get the same amount of protein you would get if you ate something else...
NO. you do not.
multi-vitamins..protein bars.. legumes and green leafy vegetables.
How could meat be considered healthy if its PUMPED with antibiotics and contains carcinogens?
I get my proteins from eggs and cheese, and feel pretty healthy.
Meat has complete protein, which most plant sources don't. The exception is quinoa which is a complete nutritional powerhouse!!
no there are plenty of meat substitutes you can get your protein from- tofu, quorn. even eggs and fish is okay.
