I feel really guilty about eating meat?!
1. because a love meat
2. because i love bubblegum (contains meat geletain)
3. because my parents wouldnt let me
this especially bugs me coz i love animals so much. i did think i could try when i got older and eat free range or organic meat but this still leaves bubblegum and marshmellows and other sweets. PLEASE HELP!
Answers:
1. if your love of meat outweighs your guilt, give up
if your love doesn't... give up the meat
2. most bubblegums use a gum base (plant source), and no gelatin
3. if you show your willingness and health benefits, your parents should't object.
Don't feel guilty about eating meat, it's how god and nature designed us. Some animals eat meat, some eat vegetables, some eat both. If every creature on the planet was a vegetarian mammals would overrun the earth, eat all the plant life, and no one would exist.
Life is too short to put that much thought into what you eat, just enjoy the variety life has to offer, and when you are eating meat don't think about the animal just think about it as coming in a neat little package from the store.
Will this guilt you even more?
Animals are killed in the fields during the planting, cultivation and harvesting of veggies, too. Sorry, but for you to live, animals must die.
From the link: "Animals of the field are killed by several factors, including:
1. Tractors and farm implements run over them.
2. Plows and cultivators destroy underground burrows and kill animals.
3. Removal of the crops (harvest) removes ground cover allowing animals on the surface to be killed by predators.
4. Application of pesticides.
So, every time the tractor goes through the field to plow, disc, cultivate, apply fertilizer and/or pesticide, harvest, etc., animals are killed. And, intensive agriculture such as corn and soybeans (products central to a vegan diet) kills far more animals of the field than would extensive agriculture like forage production, particularly if the forage was harvested by ruminant animals instead of machines. So perhaps fewer animals would be killed by producing beef, lamb, and dairy products for humans to eat instead of the vegan diet envisioned by Regan."
If you eat free range beef, you won't eat as many veggie, so fewer fields cultivated, fewer bunny rabbits, mice, ground nesting brids are killed. Cattle grazing free range are not shut up in feedlots. So not as much corn is needed. They drink water from ponds built to help with soil conservation, so no extra water is used.

Hi. Guilt is there for a reason. If you feel guilty about doing something them then it means you know it is wrong.
Although you have your reasons not to, it may be worth trying to overcome these if it'll help you live with a clear conscience. Are these reasons really worth it if it's going to make you feel so bad about yourself?
Here would be my solutions;
1) There are so many meat substitutes. Mince, chicken pieces and even steak all have vegetarian versions. They taste good, and can replace the meat in any of your favorite meals.
2) I'm pretty sure you can get vegetarian gum
3) If explain to them how you feel then I'm sure they'll be supportive. They won't want to force you to keep doing something which is making you miserable. They love you and just want you to be happy. Honestly, talk it through with them and you might be surprised at how accepting they can be.
Do what feels right. That's the only way to live.

if you wanted to be a vegetarian but are unable, next best thing would be to eat less meat and only eat organic and local meats. most of the gums do not contain gelatin. the types that explode with juice when you bite them often have gelatin in them. im pretty sure bubblicious does not have gelatin but orbit does.
You know there are gelatin free candies out there http://www.petakids.com/candy.asp
Plus i started out by taking an animal out of my diet. I started out with pig, goat, cow, chicken, and then fish. I didn't eat other meats. If your parents won't let you then i don't know what to tell you.
There is no reason to feel guilty. Animals were put on this beautiful earth for a reason. Haha I'm going to get a lot of hate on this..(:
you wuss
1. Well, if you love animals enough, you'll give up meat. At first, I found it kind of hard, then I went on websites and read these awful things -- I just couldn't eat it. I went from guilty, but eating to losing complete appetite. Maybe you need to be convinced?
2. Meat geletain is in a couple of things (marshmallows, gum, jell-o and some other stuff). However, the substitute is agar agar. It's a geletin derived from seaweed -- don't worry though! It doesn't taste like seaweed! I'm sure there's vegetarian bubblegum. :)
3. If you want to be a vegetarian and want your parents support, show them that it's healthy. Draw up statistics (just google "vegetarian health statistics"), find reports, tell them how the hormones in non-organic meat increase resistance to antibiotics, and try not to talk about animal compassion so much. If your parents don't love animals the way you do, don't guilt trip them, because that won't work. Convince them that it's HEALTHY.
Don't listen to people who say vegetarianism is hard or unhealthy. It's not. Human beings are only supposed to eat one serving of lean organic meat per week. If you're eating more than that, then you're eating too much. Don't listen to that food pyramid thing that says you have to eat meat everyday -- why do you think there are so many overweight people in America? All human beings should be eating 2 cups of veggies and 1 1/2 cups of fruits per day plus nuts, and grains regardless of meat consumption. When you think of it that way, you're not replacing a lot of meat nutrients.
Make sure you have a good vegetarian multivitamin (you can find them in health-food stores) and nutritional yeast (it provides B12, a vitamin found mainly in meat; you can buy this at health-food stores too). As for the cravings, what helps me is thinking that by refusing I'm helping out the cows/pigs/chickens even if it's only a little. "Cause no unnecessary suffering" -- that's a great way to live your live. Good luck!
HEALTHY Vegetarian (planning to go vegan) ;)
Let me tell you a story.
A little girl, when she was about ten years old or so, saw how cruel animals were treated in slaughter houses, and how they were slaughtered.
She loved meat a lot, and she loved bubblegum, as well.
The night after viewing those videos, she came up to her mother, and said, "Mom. I want to be a vegetarian."
The mother was weary on this idea, but let the little girl do it - the whole time, the mother was thinking, 'It's just a phase.'
The little girl started out with just eating chicken and fish.
Later on in her vegetarian diet, though, she stopped eating flesh all together.
The little girl wasn't the healthiest, and she felt sick and weak after she stopped eating flesh.
That girl was so dedicated, she stayed vegetarian for six months.
Students at her school were teasing and bullying her, and sometimes would sit with her, and have nothing but meat to eat for lunch, which made her sick and dizzy.
On the Thanksgiving Lunch that her school was having, even her teacher didn't care that she was incredibly sick and felt as if she was to faint.
The little girl didn't get sick, but when her mom came to pick her up from school, she was near tears.
Eight months after switching to a vegetarian diet, the little girl began eating chicken for health reasons.
A year later, she's slowly easing off of the chicken and forcing herself to eat better.
She was still being bullied; she began cutting herself and became anti-social, as well as anti-love.
Whenever asked how she kept her life going through all this, she says, "Even though it was hard, I love animals so much, that I know: if I was an animal, I wouldn't have a choice whether or not to die. It's like a victim of a bloody murder."
Basically, the little girl suffered so much abuse and sickness from converting, but in the end, she is basically saying: The animals had no choice, and the slaughterers are killing them. Therefor it's like murder, because the victim of a murder had no choice, no idea, and thought they would live to see the sun rise and set again - but they don't, because they're murdered.
The little girl is like you, in a way: she loved meat and bubblegum, and her parents thought it was just a phase, etc. etc.
Now the little girl is healthy and happy, and wise.
So, if that didn't really answer your question, I'll answer it in a more simple fashion.
1. If you let yourself be won over to eating meat, you have a weak will. The stronger your will, the more dedicated you are to being vegetarian. Don't let the meat win you over.
2. I believe there is organic bubblegum and marshmallows; I may be wrong, but there could be!
3. Ask your parents why. If it's because they don't want to make another meal or something, make the meal yourself!
I hope I helped. :)
Do you feel guilty when you wear leather shoes or other animal created clothing? Do you realize it would be impossible for everyone to be a vegetarian? Would you eat a frog? Would you eat a tarantula? Would you eat any spider? How many bugs are killed when they spray the crops with pesticides? You should stop feeling guilty because God created all these things to eat. Every animal/plant dies so that another animal/plant can live.
Firstly, i think your parents are very wrong not to let you eat meat. Things like that should be your own choice and not theirs.
Secondly, i love animals, the majority of people love animals. Survival is survival. The food chain is a natural thing and like it or not we, as humans are somewhere right up around the top of it. Thats just how it is.
Yeah alot of people are vegetarians and thats their choice and thats fine but if you want to eat meat don't feel bad about it just eat it and don't feel bad
Plants are living things too so when you eat them you kill them. This is the food chain: if you want to live, something has to die. Even vegans don't realize that their wheat consumption kills thousands of animals each year from pest control, machinery, etc.
Think about it... Your actually saving the animal because other wise its life would be wasted!!! :(((
You were made to eat meat, you were not meant to eat only greens this is why you have K9 teeth.
eat meat hunny...it can be harmful but at the same time i dont want u to starve
