Do you believe being a vegan helps reduce starvation in the world today?!
Answers:
Hi, I'm not going to pretend that a single person being vegan will automatically save lives. However, there is no doubt that if more people went vegan then this could help.
A massive amount of the crops produced are used to feed animals being bred for meat, eggs and dairy. If people did not eat these foods, and we all ate the crops directly,(ie, followed a vegan diet) then the reality is there would be enough food for everyone.
And yes, I do feel veganism is good for your health. The vegan diet is high in fibre and antioxidants and very low in saturated fat and cholesterol, which are massively linked to heart disease, the main killer in the western world.

I do. But of course it would take more of a group effort to make any noticeable difference. I imagine that the vegetarian Hindus in the East help lower their respective country's starvation levels. And, I know your question is not about the environment so much, but not eating meat reduces ones carbon footprint greatly. If everyone chipped in by making greener choices, we might make some progress.
How would it prevent world starvation? Are you not eating at all? Soooo...if you don't eat food here in the US, is someone going to wrap it up and send it to a starving country? That's really not how it works, dear.
What would help world starvation is developing the agricultural methods in countries where people are without food. What would also help is for the governments of those countries to distribute the food to the people, instead of letting it rot in a warehouse for some political reason. Another thing that would help is if the governments of those countries would stop hoarding/stealing the money they are sent, and use it to feed the people.
It has nothing to do with whether or not someone in the US is a vegan. Nothing whatsoever.
not in anyway. Massive amounts of foods are sent to grocery stores and markets regardless if a few people turn to vegetarianism and stop buying certain products. I personally don't know what each store/market/etc does with spoiled food, but if it is of bad quality to sell, then I'm pretty sure no one should be eating it.
Maybe if MANY people ate less or according to the vegan diet, less food could be sent to grocery stores and there would be more for the poverty-stricken.
But it is hard to say, especially since we live in a capitalistic nation.
I don't know and I don't particularly care. :)
No, in fact eating all the lettuce is starving rabbits world-wide...Go going guys
