Why don't strict vegans eat honey?!

Question: Why don't strict vegans eat honey?
Answers:

Vegans by definition eat no animal products or byproducts. There is some controversy over whether or not insect products and byproducts are suitable for a vegan diet, but the general consensus is that they are not.

First off there is no strict and non-strict vegans you either are or aren't. You might be referring to strict vegetarianism which is accidentally or sometimes purposefully misconstrued as vegansim.

Honey is an animal product made by animals for themselves. Bee's should not be kept by humyns so that humyns can take their product they made for themselves. They have every right to freedom as we wish to enjoy.

However for a more in depth perspective that goes into it all:

vegan because animals are not property

As another mentioned, there is no such thing as a "strict vegan." Either you're a vegan or you're not. That aside, the reason Vegan's do not eat honey is because it is an animal product. But, not only is it an animal product, that is the BEE'S FOOD. It would be like going to a stream and putting a big net downstream from where the bears fish when the salmon spawn. Not the best analogy, but trust me: Vegans don't eat honey because it is the bee's food.

Because it comes from an animal, and vegans don't eat or purchase anything from an animal, or with any derivatives from an animal product.
Why not just cut it from our diets all together? It isn't necessary. At all. I cannot think of one circumstance where you cannot use agave or maple syrup (whatever is fitting for the recipe).

Vegan.

Because vegans do not use anything that animal had to be used in order to make. In order to get honey, bees are smoked out of their hives which leaves most of them dead. And hive farmers kill the bees in the fall and winter because its cheaper to just get new bees in the spring instead of keeping them disease-free and fed throughout the cold months.

Btw, honey is not the best thing for your digestive system.

vegan :D

"strict" means there is a rule that is adhered to to the letter. However there is no rule written anywhere where it states honey is a taboo food for vegans. It is merely a preference to eat or not eat honey.

Because the "MAN" profits off the bee's unique talent. And uses them basically as slaves to give nothing back to them. Do you think they make that honey for fun? No, No, No. Plus.......... It's bee throw up! Gross! But tasty : !p

my brain cuz

Because honey is made by bees, which are drugged and, in the opinions of vegans, mistreated when the honey is extracted from their hives.

Because we don't want to. Shocking, I know. Try not to have a stroke over it.

It is like "theft" from the bees. Vegans don't eat any animal products.

it's an animal product.

Same as the other ones

Even strict vegans eat honey. There is no fixed rule for avoiding it. In that case even milk has to be avoided. It is also an animal product.
