?A person can describe their DIET in any manner they wish.?

That is definitely a good question. Some people call themselves vegetarian and they eat chicken and fish because they're not 'real meat'! Ha! Vegetarians who eat fish are technically called pescetarians. Some people just don't consider fish as 'alive' as other animals, possibly because we as humans cannot relate to them as much as cows, pigs, etc. Also there aren't issues with factory farming as such, though fish can definitely be harmed and treated unethically for food production. And some crazy cats think that fish don't have brains! As another person said, most people don't know what a pescetarian is so it's just easy to identify yourself as a veggo publically.

There are NO vegetarians who eat fish.
Vegetarians do not eat any animals at all - that's the basic definition of "vegetarian".
You may have inadvertently encountered some people who were ignorant of the definition, and falsely claimed to be vegetarians. Yes, feel free to correct them next time. The sooner they learn they've been living a lie, the better for all concerned.

Vegan!

because most people dont know what pescatarian means so instead of having a 15 minute learninglesson every time someone asks, you just say im "vegetarian". Its really about semantics, even the dictionary and wiki acknowledges that vegetarianism MAY/MAYNOT include fish and its open for debate.

Just for technicalities, if a "vegetarian" eats seafood (of any sort) she/he is a pescatarian, not a vegetarian.

Many pescatarians may (knowing that vegetarianism isn't the right term) call themselves a vegetarian publicly, as many non-vegetarians/non-pescatarians/non-veg… may not be familiar with the term "pescatarian."

They're pescetarians.
My cousin is a pescetarian, I'm a vegetarian.

Grandma: And you and Casey could eat the Tuna Salad...
Me: I'm a vegetarian.
Grandma: Vegetarians eat fish though, right?
Me: ...

They aren't vegetarians, they're pescetarians.

Please correct them next time you hear them say that they're a 'vegetarian who eats fish'!!

I'm a vegetarian and I don't eat ANY meat!!..

They don't-people who eat flesh are not vegetarians. I'm not judging, I'm saying that is the definition of the word, "one who does not consume animal flesh".

Its because those people want others to think there cool when they're really a bunch of idiots stuffing their faces with poor dead fish...

They're pescatarian which is an omnivore who only eats fish as meat.

Vegetarians dont eat fish.

Because they are not vegetarians. Simple as that.

vegan :D

Vegetarians don't eat fish. Some people just mislabel themselves.

because fishes meat isnt red meat and fishes meat isnt considered meat at all.

i fish a lot

And you are a picture of virtue. Just live and let live.
