Is soy actually bad for you?!

Soy is generally a very good food. Packed with protein and vitamins out the kazoo, soy products are much healthier than given credit for. Given the "decent" amount of estrogen in them, it's advised not to consume too much soy daily... but trust me, a glass of soymilk or some soy cheese every day won't hurt you. As an avid drinker of Silk, I can personally vouch for its awesomeness.
It's also advised, though, that men not consume too much soy, like I said because of the estrogen levels. In men, too much soy can be counterproductive to their bodies, especially with the levels of testosterone being naturally produced. Also, infants and young toddlers shouldn't have too much soy because it might interfere with their natural development (not to say that having soy is bad for them).
In the end, too much of ANYTHING is bad for your body, from meat to cheese, soy, candy and even masturbation. Life's all about moderation.
I've been a vegetarian for three years and regularly consume soymilk, almond milk (which is not made of soy, I just thought I'd mention it), and even soy "meats".
i've heard a mix of opinions; everything from it preventing cancer to it causing cancer. i just assume it has a neutral effect. It does have alot of estrogen in it, which is apparently bad for breast cancer, but studies have shown it's not.
I've talked to my doctor alot about soy products and she says their fine.
I drink soossooo much soymilk, and eat the occasional soy cheese!

Unless you're allergic, a few glasses of soy milk a day is *good* for you. It contains omega-3, isoflavones, phytic acid and can help reduce cholesterol. Countries where people ingest more soy tend to have lower cancer rates.
Too much soy *might* have negative effects, although scientific evidence is lacking. An excess of phytoestrogen found in soy has been linked to an increased cancer risk and possible infertility in men, but at higher intakes than you would have.
Soy is considered a super food, and is great for you in moderation (at one serving a day, you're eating just the right amount.) Just try to make sure you eat it as close to its natural form as possible. For example, skip TVP in favor of tempeh, and go for tofu instead of store-bought veggie burgers.
Like anything it is bad for you in excess. It is a very good source of protein. But the plant is high in hormones (why we use them to synthesize thinks like estrogen). It generally takes allot (like pounds of soy) to effect a person. But it really depends on that person and there development.
it's only bad for you when the put soy lechitin in a product to make it seem to have more protione because this is incomplete protien.
The general consensus seems to be that soy is healthy in moderation. It doesn't look like you consume enough to worry about adverse effects.
If you're allergic to it, or if the item has gone bad, then yes, it's bad for you.
no, its good 4 u but its a hippie food
