What is Rennet? Is it from an animal?!

Question: What is Rennet? Is it from an animal?
I know that it is in some cheeses, but i'm still confused about what it is and why it isn't suitable for vegetarians?

Answers:

Rennet is a complex formed of enzymes found in the stomachs of mammals, where it aids the digestion of milk. Production requires the slaughter of the animal. Although there are non-animal sources of rennet, most commercial cheese production uses rennet from an animal source so if you're trying to follow a vegetarian or vegan diet be sure to check the ingredients of any cheese you buy and/or eat.

Rennet is not suitable for vegetarians, because it comes from lining of a baby calf's fourth stomach.
In order to obtain the rennet, the calf is slaughtered in the process. In some cases, rennet is also obtained from a baby goat.

Amy's Kitchen makes a great vegan macaroni and "cheese" that tastes just like cheddar cheese.

The answers given by all are correct. We were using cheese commercially, till we noticed the "rennet" in packages. made enquiries like you are doing . And then we stopped and switched to cottage cheese produced by curdling milk with lemon.
It is not a question of which "classification" the cheese falls into with the use of rennet. More related what your heart says!
We have not accepted the use of rennet. That is all!

True rennet is part of the stomach lining of cows. It's used in cheese making, because it produces an enzyme that makes the sour milk curdle to become cheese instead of just rotting.

Most of the time these days, the enzyme is synthesized and added to the milk curds. But some cheese makers still use rennet.

rennet is made from cow's stomach it is used to curd the milk.

in cottage cheese it is the difference between large and small curd.

Rennet is a slaughter by-product, it comes from an enzyme in calf stomach.

Rennet is in cheeses but it's made from the lining of cows intestines. So no vegetarians should eat it.

the lining of a young milk-fed cow's stomach

its an extract from the 4th stomach of young cows, sheep and goats. It has enzymes in it so it is used for cheese making
