BEFORE you went vegetarian/vegan, did you ever dislike or disrespect OTHER vegetarians/vegans you encountered?!

Question: BEFORE you went vegetarian/vegan, did you ever dislike or disrespect OTHER vegetarians/vegans you encountered?
If so, why?

Was it because you were jealous of them?

Were you guilty about your own diet?

Was it because they were different?

Were you just uninformed and ignorant?

Did they aggressively preach that they were right and you were wrong?

Were you merely afraid of what you did not understand?

Answers:

Yes, sometimes. It was absolutely nothing to do with jealousy or ignorance, I just disliked the way they would preach and act superior. They were just very judgmental and felt they had the right to comment on how others chose to live their life.

I'm a vegan, and still do find myself getting annoyed at certain other vegans. The whole superior attitude that some people display gives us all a bad name.

Vegan

I never disliked a vegetarian or vegan before I became, but I have after. And it has absolutely nothing to do with me being jealous, guilty, uninformed or ignorant. I don't believe most people wouldn't like a vegetarian or vegan because of these reasons I think they wouldn't like them because they had a better-than-you attitude which is why I have disliked some. They have thought they were better than others for being a vegetarian for like a week and then in the end they became meat eaters again.

I honestly don't know the answer to this, but I strongly suspect the answer is No.

When I became a vegetarian 35 years ago, I only knew two other vegetarians and they were both in my family (my mother and one of my brothers), plus one schoolfriend who called herself a vegetarian, but may have been a pescetarian - I'm still not sure. (Either way, she's not currently a vegetarian.)

The only vegetarian I've met (I know about a dozen or so) that I've even come close to disliking is my sister-in-law (married to one of my non-vegetarian brothers), but she is immensely difficult for anyone to get along with. As far as I know, she doesn't preach to anyone about diet, so that's not a contributing factor to her demeanour.

Vegan!

i've never disprespected people about what they've eaten, unless they where one of those people always complaining about how fat they where and they eat macdonalds 3 times a day. I have no respect for those slobs. I always like vegetarians/vegans;
I was jelous of them because of how healthy they where! I always feel guilt about what i eat, even if its an apple. Different? Not really. They're still human. Never uninformed and ignorant, although alot of people are like that towards me! Not really, although sometimes i do that with others mainly because there ignorant and uninformed.

Possibly; I sometimes encountered people I disliked and/or disrespected. I have no idea whether they were vegan or vegetarian, but I suppose some of them might have been.

Though I probably didn't meet that many; there were nowhere near as many veg*ns around in the 1960s as there are now.

If you mean did I ever meet veg*ns who I disliked/disrespected BECAUSE they were veg*n, no. I was no more likely to respect/like people or otherwise on the basis of their dietary choices than I am now.

Honestly, no. It never occured to me. I never even thought about vegetarians or vegans, although I did have this friend who went vegan our freshman year in high school. Hell, she's part of the inspiration I had by going vegetarian my sophomore year, but at the time, I thought it was strange.

No, I wasn't jealous, uninformed, ignorant, and never got any preaching. As a vegetarian, I find your question description a little offensive. It seems as if you're insulting all of those who eat meat. Just a thought.

Nope, because before I went Vegetarian, I had only encountered one person who I *knew* was a Vegan. I thought it was pretty interesting--And the food he'd bring in for lunch was always so delicious (he'd share, lol).

No before I became vegetarian, other vegetarians/vegans would disrespect me and give me dirty looks for eating meat

I honestly knew no vegetarians or vegans before.

Yes. I am not sure exactly why I behaved in that way.

I was the first vegetarian I knew, so no.
