vegans and vegetarians are you ok with....?!

Question: Vegans and vegetarians are you ok with....?
I want to hear you opinions, are you ok with people who raise their own animals for the byproducts or with people hunt for their own food? In you minds is this ok or do you believe nobody should eat meat no matter how humanely it was raised?

Answers:

Though I don't consume meat for my own health and personal morals I don't look down on people who eat meat that take into consideration as to where their meat is coming from. I don't like the idea of 'head hunters' and prefer people that will use the whole animal rather than just wanting to stuff it and display it on the wall (am I the only one that finds that disturbing?). Yes deer populations need to be controlled, I used to live up north where if the population wasn't queued then many deer would die of starvation. Now that I live in Texas where wild boars are doing so much damage to both their environment and the wildlife that lives there with no natural enemies to control their population, I'm ok with people hunting them. As far as farm animals, I guess free range is better than not, but you're still killing the animal for unnecessary reasons (we don't need meat to survive). My sister owns a farm with chickens and uses them mainly for eggs, but if there is a trouble maker that is pecking the other chickens, he ends up as dinner. I don't blame her for not wasting a chicken that is causing harm to the others.

Since people think hunting deer is a good way to combat overcrowding of deer (which is people's fault in the first place and obviously can't be reversed because people aren't just going to move out and give the land to the animals), they should at least use the meat. I think hunting meat is much better than buying grocery store meat. I also think there's nothing wrong with using eggs and stuff from your own chickens.

I really don't think EVERYONE should be vegetarian. I just think more should so there isn't a need for such a big industry, and people can revert back to farms and stuff for those that do.

If it's for survival and it's done responsibly, I have no issue with it. I would rather someone hunt their own wild meat in a sustainable way than purchase factory farm meat from supermarkets. If I had to choose between a family starving while deer live, or deer dying so a family can eat, I would choose the latter.

I think that when possible, meat should be avoided, but for many people, that isn't an option. I understand and I don't blame people for doing what they can to survive.

Vegan

As opposed to eating meat as I am, my philosophy is this: if you're willing to get your a** out there to hunt that animal (with your bare hands, don't be a p*ssy and use a gun), then you gain a new respect for that animal, and the life you took. As for raising animals, saime rule applies. Get out there and kill the animal with your bare hands, as nature intended.

And yes, I'd rather the family kill the deer themselves and use the whole animal, as opposed to using just parts of it. Waste not, want not. In the end, though, we don't need meat to survive. So regardless of whether or not the animal was raised humanely, I refuse to eat it. I don't want some other life sacrificed for my tastebuds.

Vegetarian.

I'm probably get some crap from other veg*ns because of this but-
I don't eat hunted meat but I do believe that a certain amount of hunting is necessary in order to keep the population under control. As long as people treat animals with respect (not causing unnecessary pain, not trophy hunting, using all of the animal), I would never protest against them.
In addition, hunted meat doesn't have the environmental impact on farming, or many of the health cons (antibiotics, hormones).
And if I had to choose between people and animals, I choose people.
So, I don't think its bad. Of course, I would prefer no animals ever be killed, but living in the real world, that's impossible.

I think it's great when people take their health/diet into their own hands. Raising your own food is great, as is hunting it, so long as you always treat the animals with respect.

In fact, since you mentioned it, the man who will hopefully be my husband in a few years used to hunt deer. He wants to start up again when we get our own place and have some land where he can, and I'd be more than happy to see my kids eating that rather than a steak from the supermarket. I want them to understand--and feel good about--where their food comes from, be it vegetarian or not.

I don't agree with it, but I'd rather they did that than buy factory-farmed products.

Even if you buy chicks and treat them like queens, their brothers were still killed. The same goes for cows and dairy. Only the females are needed for dairy and eggs, so ultimately it's going to be cruel.

No, I don't agree with killing animals for meat. It just isn't justifiable unless it's a matter of survival.

ehe ,
hunting, no, im not for at all, we dont have to do it, its unnecesary nowadays
farming, i dont agree with it specifically, both of these are natural, mostly its how people treat the animals that woudl be the main problem

its not about the eating of meat for me, its about the way we think about animals, and so the way we treat them

Um, I just generally don't think we should eat animals, when we can survive perfectly well without meat.
That and the thought of dead things being in my mouth creeps me out.

No matter how well an animal is treated, it still suffers during processing.

In my opinion i became a vegetarian because i didn't like the idea of people killing animals so i dont think its right

I wouldn't do it, but other people's buisness is their own buisness.

Yes I'm okay with that, as long as they are doing these things responsibly.

i hate seeing people kill animals... I dont eat them

It doesn't matter if they are ok with it or not. Its none of their Business what I eat or how I get it.

And to the poster that said we should kill animals with our own hands. Why should we? The human animal evolved with its brain, not strength and speed. We evolved to out think prey. By your logic you should have to plow, plant, and harvest EVERYTHING you eat. I highly doubt you do that.
