good attention grabber for a persuasive vegetarian speech?!

Question: Good attention grabber for a persuasive vegetarian speech?
What would be a good attention grabber for a persuasive vegetarian speech?
at the end of it i wanna say 'that should be your new years resoultion' but i cant think of anyting good to say before that line...help

Answers:

It really depends upon the content of the rest of it. You could sum up your previous points saying '...and those are the reasons why you should make becoming a vegetarian your new year's resolution.' Or something like that.
You could quote figures for numbers of animals killed? That would be attention grabbing. Maybe say how vegetarians help continue animal life by saying that by not eating meat but by consuming their products (like milk etc) we encourage farmers to breed more of the animals which helps?
I guess just anything which could shock the audience.

I highly suggest checking out the book "Skinny *****" it has all the facts and numbers and reasons that exist. It's short, sited, and cheeky. It's also what turned me from a meat eater, to a vegan within the week! I never would have guessed that such a small book could influence me so much (I didn't even know the book was a vegan or vegetarian diet to begin with). I'm also a biology major so I don't take things that I read seriously until I've checked peer-reviewed articles, and that book is 99% backed with peer-reviewed research. Filled with facts that you could use for your paper.

You could make a New Year's resolution to get our freaking nose out of people's business.

from what I've learned about vegetarians a good attention grabber is saying out loud "I am going to tell a big lie.." then follow it up with the usual vegetarian facts.

If the musicians dressing rooms had glass walls, then everyone would know that aging rock stars are nothing more than drug users and sexual perverts who are too stupid to realize that marrying a woman everyone said he should not can lead to him losing half his money. Heck even Michael Jackson, who isn't really the sharpest knife in the drawer, tricked him into giving up his rights to most Beatles songs and some idiot think he is wise man??

Trying to push your beliefs I see. Why should it be my News Years resolution? I don't want to be a vegetarian!

PS to Rheanan, obesity, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure are not caused by meat. They are caused by people gorging themselves on processed foods (fast foods, twinkies, soda, chips, meals in a box) and lack of exercise. Fresh, lean, real meat has nothing to do with the health issues stated above.

ps to obeytuary... Most windows are made of glass :B

I would use Obesity, high blood pressure and bad cholesterol in my argument as well as revealing the horrors of factory farming not only for the animals, but for their workers and the environment.

Say everyone has free will except the animals your eating. Oh and if Slaughterhouses had glass windows id so go watch that

but most slaughterhouses dont have windows....... turdbucket
have you ever tried cleaning blood of a window pain in the ***

Talk about how all the animals slaughtered for food each year could stretch to the moon 50 times. (thats a guess). Or mention the destruction to the Amazon.

If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be vegetarian

Paul McCartney

Every second, 5,000 animals are killed using slitting the throat, scalded in boiling water, or being sufficated. ;p

If you want to gross them out, tell them that 90% of the chicken and other animals they eat either have salmonella or other diseases.

Vegan
