Does Covergirl do animal testing?!

Question: Does Covergirl do animal testing?
I've heard and seen on various websites that they do, but if they do, why does their site say they don't?

A12: What is CoverGirl's policy about research involving animals?
We do not test our cosmetics products on animals.

Are they saying they don't test on the final product, while slyly implying that they do, however, test their ingredients on animals? Or did they recently switch to no animal testing?

Thanks.

Answers:

they can legally say that they don't test on animals because the final product, the actual one you see on the ledges at the pharmacy or whatever wasn't tested on animals. but that doesn't mean that they haven't been testing on animals for decades just to figure out which chemical mixtures "would be ok" (even if you animal testing doesn't prove anything) on humans...and, to get to the final product, they most probably DID test on animals to have it.

and if some people ban these beauty products for years cuz for one they test on animals, why is it all ok now cuz they say they don't anymore? they've been testing for ever just to get something "right" and now they are pretty much there and they don't need to spend it on animals anymore, now everyone's like, "oh, now i'll but loreal and all that cuz they don't test ANYMORE." bull, why, you're just gonna forgive them like that. haven't this fight mean anything all these years?

If they don't test on animals, then they have very recently switched. For AT LEAST the first year and a half of being vegan, Covergirl was not an acceptable brand for me to buy. I've been vegan for about 2 years. I hadn't heard that they stopped animal testing, but it actually makes me happy because I really like Covergirl's products!

Covergirl used to test on animals... even though they say they don't... I still wouldn't buy it :)

Covergirl is made by the company Procter and Gamble.. which is NOTORIOUS for their animal testing.

So just because Covergirl doesn't test anymore, 90% of everything else made by the company that makes Covergirl is still made from testing :(

Hope this helped!!! :))))

Vegetarian for 7+ years :p

i'm gonna say yes they do. reasoning? big industry, loved by many, huge endorsement deals, promoted by many businesses. what would happen to them if their products weren't safe? well what "better" way than to try it on animals?

common sense my friend

YES!!!! It's owned by proctor ad gamble and they do animal testing, I was on the PETA (people for the ethical treatment of animals) website for the longest time yesterday trying to figure out what brands dont do animal testing.

I was just going to say that they say they don't. Just to find out for sure, go on their website and tell them you heard that they tested on animals and give them a chance to refute the claims.

Apparently, they did but no longer did. That's the story for most of the companies. But, they don't have to really tell us outright whether they do or don't...

No, you're thinking of L'oreal. Well, now L'oreal doesn't do it anymore.

No, they do not test on animals:)

Vegan

All the makeup I have from cg says not tested on animals

Yes. And all of the medical advancements we have today are from animal testing. Looks like you can't use covergirl or go to any doctor or hospital again. Sorry.
