Answers:

There is protein in pretty much all plant foods. Cows traditionally get all their protein from grass. There is protein in carrots.

However, you are probably looking for protein-dense foods. Simplified, there are two main types of protein-rich plant foods. Grains are higher in half the types of protein, and nuts and beans are higher in the other half of the types of protein. Meat-eaters don't really think this way since they get all their proteins in one food, meat. So you will need to eat a mix of grains and nuts/beans. This isn't a fussy ratio, and is no more complicated than eating grains and meat. You can also eat dairy and eggs, which are complete proteins, but my suggestion would be not to rely on these heavily for protein because they come with so much baggage: fat, hormones, and even if low-fat, the animal protein itself robs your body of calcium and seems linked to cancers. They also cause a lot of suffering, probably more than meat.

Anyway, here is my favorite food pyramid: http://vegan.uchicago.edu/nutrition/01.h…
And here is PCRMs four food groups: http://www.pcrm.org/health/veginfo/vsk/f…
I don't know why they don't include nuts in with the legumes (beans). Maybe they consider them too high-fat to be a good source of protein. I think most vegans consider them good sources but eat them in moderation if watching calories.

Anyway, you decide which food guide you like. Both tell you you need 5+ servings of grains and 2+ servings of legumes/nuts. That's your protein.

Good luck!

Most foods except oil and water have protein. The amount of protein a food has varies, however. Some high protein Vegetarian foods are: Eggs (which are a complete protein), beans, nuts, seeds. Beans and rice are an example of a complete protein that is Veg'n.

Morning Star Farms has a lot of good vegetarian 'meat'
I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian too!
Cheese, suprisingly, has protein too, and is yummy to boot.
Many indian foods are vegetarian and have lots of lentils, which are full or protein.

well, eggs are your best bet to get protein. Cheese and peanut butter is also good. I think all vegetarians need a very good multivitamin to replace the proteins and other vital nutrients the body needs to stay healthy.

- Legumes
- Nuts/nut butter
- Edamames
- Tofu
- TVP (textured veggie protein): good to add to oatmeal
- Greek yogurt
- Kashi go lean original cereal
- Eggs

protein tablets?

Have you tried lentils, Quinoa or cheese?

I would think a vegetarian should already know this.

Beans
Nuts
Tofu
