im vege and 110 5'8 am i fat?

The population as a whole is getting fatter. Vegetarians in general are less fat. I'm vegan and I'm not fat.

Lacto-ovo-vegetarians can run into trouble when they overdo it on the dairy and eggs. Vegetarian fare is often loaded with cheese. And anyone can eat junk food.

If you're interested in learning more about why everyone is getting fatter, I have taken a Yale course on it and done a lot of looking into this. It's not what you think.

No wonder we're obese - a new way of looking at the epidemic: http://expandingcircle.wordpress.com/201…
My other nutrition posts also have a lot about obesity: http://expandingcircle.wordpress.com/cat…

People expect vegetarians/vegans to be thin. Therefore when you see a bigger vegetarian, you notice. You see several vegetarians, and you wonder "what's up with the fat vegetarians." Actually vegetarians are just like everyone else, in that they come in all shapes and sizes. On average, I would say that vegetarians are much thinner than meat eaters.

Vegan

Omnivores have greater risk of obesity than vegetarians; vegans have the lowest.

If you had done your research, your question would read: "Why are vegetarians less fat?"

Personally, I run half-marathons and a sub-21 5k, and I'd like to see any fat person do that.

Why wouldn't they be? ^_^; There is no reason that there shouldn't be a percentage of overweight vegans/vegetarians, just like there is with meat eaters :) It is a complete myth that vegetarians/vegans are always thin because there is hardly anything unhealthy that they can eat; anything that you can buy, you can be a vegan alternative for, even junk food :)

?

because they are junkfoodetarians.
When i went vegetarian a while ago i was like that, i eliminated the meat and continuted eating chips and high calorie high fat foods for a while thinking it was fine. I got FAT. I am now trying really hard to lead a much healthier life style, although everyone deserves a SMALL treat now and than.

Sometimes people become vegtarians by just cutting out meat and begin eating junk foods, such as pizza, instead of persuing healthier vegetarian food options. Vegetarianism is supposed to lead to a healthier life, but when it's done improperly it can be worse that some non-vegetarian diets.

it's not just vegetarians. The people you may have come across might be eating a lot of processed foods or sugar or trans and saturated fats. They are also not being physically active.

Most vegetarians I know are a prretty healthy weight. The ones who aren't are fat (or too thin) for the same reason anyone else is: they eat too much or not enough.

this is a generalized, and untrue statement; some vegetarians are fat, some thin. same with meat eaters.

Actually, meat eaters are much more likely to become overweight then people who do not eat meat.

Vegan

Really? Well..I certainly am not fat. I'm 5"2 and weight 115 lbs. Actually, most meat eaters I know are overweight

French fries, potato chips, white bread, jelly beans, pizza, cake, and pop tarts are all veg friendly. Just because someone doesn't eat meat doesn't mean they eat healthy food.

Because vegetarian foods taste so much better. ;)

Why are omnivores so fat?

I'm pregnant.
I have an excuse. ;)

Because our food is so darn tasty! :D

not all are....
