Please don't go vegan, you will get sick. This means you need to include food from the meat and dairy groups.
It's hard to stay vegan, but it's not impossible. Everyone gets cravings from time to time and you just have to be prepared for it. If you have something you love on hand, then hopefully that will stay your cravings. There's also some good substitutes out there, they're hard to find, but experiment with what tastes good to you. As for vitamins, I've been a vegan for a year and half and I have not needed to take any. As long as you are eating what you are supposed to you should be fine (the above answer about iron, omega and b12 is very true). Yes you can take supplements, but unfortunately those 'daily doses' that they claim on the bottle ends up going strait through your system then getting a chance to absorb and be of any use. That's why I highly suggest editing your eating habits. There's so much great tasting vegan food out there, something for everyone, you just have to experiment. The great thing about vegan is that it's healthy, and done right you get everything you need and then some. The bad thing about going vegan, is it takes time to prepare your food, and you always need to be on the ready. If you listed the kind of cravings you are having I could give you some suggestions (I get a lot of cravings myself!)

I don't think you have to rely on vitamins to stay vegan :) Certainly, if you are finding that you are low in a particular vitamin despite your best efforts (and your doctor agrees), then take vitamins, but usually it is quite possible to get everything you need from the right kinds of foods :) Vitamins won't help with the cravings!
As for the cravings, I have the same problem ^_^; But I think you'll find that if you can find vegan alternatives for all of the foods you crave, you'll be less tempted to cheat on your veganism. Vegan chocolate, vegan recipes for your favorite dishes, etc.

You have to have the heart to stay vegan. I have resisted from temptations because I am passionate about animals. I honestly believe that's the only way.
As a vegan you need: Iron (Chickpeas, spinach - absorbed with citrus to help absorb, fortified cereals) Omega fatty acids (walnuts, flaxseed) and b12 (supplement is the only way)
As for iron, a multi-vitamin helps a lot, and there's an omega fatty acids flaxseed supplement as well.
