I kinda messed up tonight on being vegetarian.?!

Question: I kinda messed up tonight on being vegetarian.?
I feel really down, and really bad. I've been (was) a vegetarian for about 7 months, and I was doing so well. I'm a vegetarian for both ethical and health reasons, but today, I totally messed up. Some things happened between me and my friends and my girlfriend where I became probably the most furious i've ever been! I wasn't thinking, and I was in a real "f the world and everybody" mood and I said a lot of stupid things and then I went and got myself a hamburger deliberately.

I mean, I don't know how I should feel. I feel I messed up...bad.

I don't what to do either. Can I really still call myself a vegetarian after that happened? I was doing so well. I mean, I wouldn't ever let this happen again, and I'm hoping that this would just be a minor speed bump.

Fortunately, being vegetarian isn't as irrecoverable as, say, being a virgin.

I think that what your intentions are in the future is what you are, but definitely encourage you to make a plan to handle anger in the future. If nothing else comes of this, use it as power; when we act in rage at others, we hurt ourselves the most.

Go, you meatless person, you!

Hi, sorry you're having a rough patch :( But you can certainly still call yourself a vegetarian! Don't worry about that :) Most people would have slipped up several times in their first 7 months of vegetarianism! Don't worry about it, just keep doing your best.

Also, talk to someone about what's going on in your life. I'm sure a loved one, or even a stranger, would be very happy to chat :D You'll feel better afterwards.

Don't feel bad! Why do you need to feel guilty? Being vegetarian was your own decision, and you messed that up a little. You only have to be vegetarian if you want to. And if you do want to, I'd say you still are vegetarian because you don't eat meats. That was just a little mishap. But don't feel horrible about it! We all make ourselves feel upset sometimes.

Don't beat yourself up over this. You made one mistake due to emotional stress. It happens. Yes, you can still call yourself a vegetarian. You just had one off day.

Besides, your choice of diet it entirely your own affair. That day for whatever reason, you needed a hamburger. So what? It's not the end of the world. Move on and get back on track from this point forward.

Health-wise, one hamburger has far less effect than 300 hamburgers.

Ethically, one hamburger is far better than 300.

Cut yourself some slack. You are working hard to do the right thing, and you slipped up once. I'd say that you're doing very well.

And I'm sorry you had such a terrible day. Try working on making that better rather than beating yourself up for one hamburger.

I think you're freaking out over nothing and if you want to be a vegetarian you shouldn't have gone and stuffed your face with a hamburger no matter how upset you were. But it happened and it's in the past so get over it and move on with your life.

Why would eating a hamburger help anything? I'd feel terrible if I ate one little piece of meat, but it's not the end of the world. You can continue to being a vegetarian again if you're not consuming meat or meat bi-products now.

I wanna know how you stayed mad long enough to go out and get a burger before regretting your actions. When I get mad I get over it pretty fast, even if I don't act like it to get back at the people who made me mad. It's a really difficult emotion to sustain, imo..

if you continue not eating meat after this situation you could still call your self a vegetarian. it was a small bump dont beat yourself up about it. if you do it again then you can beat yourself up. just pick up where you left off.

Perhaps this video will put you back on the path

You had a lapse, just remember how these creatures are tortured every day of the year. And ask yourself, do you want to contribute to this?

Try not to berate yourself for this one(?) misstep.

You know the results and effects of going either way. - Reset your path toward your beliefs and make a vow to yourself to stay (your) chosen path.

A.A. stories

okay... so you got upset.. and to calm your "rage" you ate meat?
You sound really whiny to me.. what ever happened to the old fashioned "punching things" method?

vegetarian for 7+ years.

It's not that big of a deal. One hamburger won't kill you nor diminish your opinions on vegetarianism. Don't feel bad. Everyone has an off day.

Forgive yurself - apologize to your friend if you need to, then start over, we al make errors, it's normal and human

Oh my god oh no! the vegetarian police are going to kill you in your sleep!

Don't be so hard on yourself, if your body is asking you for something, then give it what it wants and enjoy it and be happy about it. I try to go as vegetarian and raw as possible but I don't restrict myself of anything, I just have bad stuff in moderation. Whenever I restrict myself of foods, that's when I go on a bad food binge over emotional reasons. If I called myself a strict vegetarian that only eats raw foods, that puts pressure on myself, then I end up binging later, and more often. Remember, we are omnivores, we need a little bit of everything.
I agree, don't eat meat every day but like I said, we need a little of everything.

My source is my hair thinning from not having enough iron when I tried to go too vegetarian/vegan.
