How to get protein when a vegetarian???? ?!


Question: How to get protein when a vegetarian???? ?
I have recently become a vegetarian and I was wondering how I could get protein and I do not like tofu. Any suggestions would be great thank you.

There is protein in nearly all foods (oil, water, salt and sugar are obvious exceptions), so getting enough protein is not going to be a problem on a vegetarian diet. If you're eating enough food, you'll be getting enough protein.

Particularly good sources (not in any particular order) are: quinoa, chia seeds, amaranth seeds, tempeh, seitan, wheat, barley, oats, rye, maize, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, almonds, peanuts, pine nuts, macadamias, pecans, walnuts, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, chestnuts, pistachios, peas, chickpeas, lentils, broad beans, soybeans, pigeon peas, cowpeas, lupini, baked beans, buckwheat, avocado, yeast, spirulina, plus any other nuts, cereals, beans and seeds. If you're going to eat dairy products and/or eggs, then you can include those on the list.

Veg*ns can obtain protein by eating a balance of incomplete proteins each day (legumes with grains or legumes with nuts and seeds) or by eating approximately 50g of complete protein from the following sources: amaranth, buckwheat, hemp seed, soy, quinoa, certain blue-green algaes (such as spirulina), as well as eggs and dairy for those that allow them. There are also many fruits and vegetables (such as persimmons) that provide complete or high-quality proteins, but in such low doses it wouldn't be worth it to list them all. The key here, and to any healthy diet, is variety.



There is protein in almost everything we eat, even fruit, so it's pretty unlikely that you'll end up deficient in protein. In fact, most Americans eat about twice as much as we actually need.

Some plant foods high in protein include beans and legumes, soy, leafy green veggies, and cruciferous veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, etc.)

Eggs and dairy are also high in protein, but be careful not to overdo it on the cheese!

beans are great for this :) all kinds, kidney, chickpeas, black beans, butter beans, cannellini and legumes lentils and split peas!
Eggs have a LOT of protein as does cheese :)
Also a handful of nuts is full of protein or just some peanut butter - try get a low fat version :)

You get from eating food. Most all foods have some protein. If you eat dairy and eggs, those are very good sources but if not, rely on whole grains, beans, nuts etc. I suggest going to Google and doing some research on vegetarian diets and nutrition if you don't know what to eat.

Look at the videos below, you can get all your protein the exact same place horses, cows and giraffes do - through fruits, vegetables, herbs and so on.

There's many things that have proteins which vegetarians could eat for example almond, banana, broccoli, brown rice, chickpeas, corn, lentils, peas-----frozen,Spinach---frozen,and whole weat bread.



I like tempeh. Also try lots of beans and peanutbutter.

All plants contain protein - so any vegetables



Most beans have a lot of protein and a fair amount of nuts do as well.



beans, thuvar dal and other dals, groundnut, soya, if eating egg can be taken



everything has protein. where do you think the cows get their protein from, eating other cows?
