Pescatarian....mercury??!?!


Question: Pescatarian....mercury??!?
I'm a new pescatarian, used to be a vegetarian. Now that I am a pescatarian I will be eating pretty regulary but I am scared about the mercury levels in fish and sea food. Can some one please reccomend some seafood that has low levels of mercury and that are safe to eat on a regular basis?? Also please don't tell to become a vegetarian because obviously I tryed that and it didn't work out. Thanks!
Ps: no need to offend anyone with this Q. I know it is in the wrong section but I didn't know any where else to put it.;(

Hi, it is generally the larger fish which have high levels of mercury.
For this reason things like sardines, clams, squid, anchovies, crab, trout, mackerel, herring, plaice and oysters are all lower in mercury.

All fish have trace amounts of mercury. That's not a problem for most healthy people eating a varied diet. If you're pregnant or only eating fish, you are smart to be careful.

Remember, too there's a lot of "farmed" fish available these days.

Well I think mercury and chemicals are pretty much in every sea animal unfortunately, because of what man has done with dumping things in the ocean etc.



Being a pescetarian doesn't mean you need to eat fish everyday. Fish and seafood should always be eaten sparingly.



Mercury is in all fish. Watch Earthlings and you will understand what I mean.It's Pretty disgusting.
