Hi. I think as long as you explain to your family exactly how you feel they will accept your decision and know you're serious. No doubt they love you, so they won't force you to keep doing something that you explain to them you feel strongly against.
Maybe you could look up some healthy, easy vegetarian recipes to show them you mean it and that it doesn't need to be difficult, and you'll still be getting all the nutrients you need. The more preparation you've done the more they'll realize you're serious about this.
If you're honest and open with them about why you're doing this they'll probably be more ready to accept your decision.

I'm 15, went vegetarian at 14, and I totally get how you feel.
Mine didn't take me seriously at all at first, but since I stuck with it, they've started to respect it more. Most times they think it's just a phase, but if you show them that it's not, then they will start to accept it and accept you as a person.
Also, I would do research on why you want to become vegetarian, and on nutrition because that's something many parents would worry about.
Kchick-
-you don't save animals' lives
-you don't have healthier skin
-the reason Americans are often overweight is overeating and underexercising, not protein. In fact, protein has a thermogenic effect (which basically means your body spends calories breaking the food down), so if you eat a pure protein food (meat, eggs), then approximately 27% of the calories are burned by digestion. So it would be better to overeat protein than any other macronutrient (carbs and fats).
vegetarian
Exactly your just a little kid that has yet to learn about the true purposes and reasons of vegetarianism, your parents are right to treat you this way because they have more life experience than you do, and you, what are your reasons for being a vegetarian? none, there os no legitimate reason, the only reasons I've seen vegetarians come up with are either false, or only look at one perspective, why don't you look up something called PETA, and then tell me if you still want to be a vegetarian?
I was in the same position as you. Tell them that you are dead serious, and if they make meat at meals, don't eat it. Show them that you are serious. If your parents aren't vegetarian, then you should make your own meals. Why make them change for you? And make sure that you get all of the food groups, and eat beans, tofu, lentils, and other meat alternatives. Good luck:)
Myself:)
Do your research. Gather up all that information and make a presentation. Sit your family down in a meeting and tell them how serious you are about your choice and how much you would appreciate it if they would support you in your decision. While you are doing this look them seriously straight in the eye. They should get that your a big kid now and should make your own decisions. If they don't they are really clueless.
Good Luck!
I've been a pescatarian since I was born, thanks to my mom
im 14 too. im a vegetarian, my dad thinks im crazy. i did Research and found a few good reason why im a vegetarian.
1.) you could be healthier
2.)you'll save animal's lives'
3.)you live 3-6 years longer than the average meat eater.
4.)healthier skin.
5.)increased energy.
6.)lower blood pressure
7.)lower risk of cancer.
8.)prevention of type 2 diabetes
9.)reason most of America is overweight they consume 3 times more protein then needed.
10.)animals raised for food are treated poor.
11.)meat can easily be contaminated.
12.)Help end world hunger: every day forty thousand children on this planet needlessly starve to death. According to the Department of Agriculture statistics, one acre of land can grow 20,000 pounds of potatoes. That same acre of land, when used to grow cattle feed, can produce less than 165 pounds of edible cow flesh.
13.)If they continue to clear American forests to raise cattle at the present rate, in 50 years there will be none left
14.)Human physiology. Meat eaters have claws, no pores on the skin so they perspire through the tongue. Plant eaters perspire through pores on the skin (since they are searching for food during hot hours, not hunting at sunrise/sunset or under cover of darkness as meat eaters do) and flat back molars to grind food.
those are my reasons. do your research. and tell them you are serious. and just plain refuse meat. im not sure what your money situation is but it does cost more to be a vegitarian. here are some good brands to try:
morning star *found in most groceries stores
boca *not as common
sabra *found in most publix's
gardein *found in publix
those are pretty good. most of the morning star thing i *personaly* dont like. but the rest are pretty good. you also have to decide weather or not you will eat seafood, and or dairy. i eat both dairy and seafood. there are some vitamins that you cant get without seafood and dairy. some of those are essential vitamins. *but they do make multi vitamins. hope some of this helps!
vegetarian goin strong!
sit down for a family meeting -eating a healthy diet is a family decision. meet with a nutritionist to help with planning balanced meals. take a cooking class -it's a great family activity. help the family with meal planning & prep.
Just dont eat meat. What are they gonna do? They cant make you eat it. They will eventually accept it and start cooking more vegetarian friendly food.
Vegetarian since 12, Vegan since 14
Uh... They can't make you eat meat so if they make meatloaf or turkey or something just go eat something else.
If they try to make you eat meat you can call CPS.
Hello
Get some books out of your local library and show your parents ok after you have read them.
Im vegetarian and im 13, you just need to tell them that your serious and plan good meals for yourself. try to get all the needed food groups except meat.
