Mostly for animal rights issues. They don't think its right to slaughter animals for their meat or to use eggs, dairy or honey. Most vegans feel that chickens, dairy cows and bees are being exploited for their products and that we are stealing the eggs, milk and honey from the animals.

Other vegans choose not to eat meat for health reasons. A vegan diet is a cholesterol free diet. Vegans who eat a healthy, balance diet decrease their risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes. Vegans also tend to keep their blood lipid levels and body weight within the desirable range.

That isn't really a good question, to be honest. It is far too broad. Also, vegans not only abstain from consuming or using meat, but also milk and eggs, products containing any derivatives of these, wool, fur, leather, suede, silk, honey, and anything tested on animals

People go vegan for many reasons including animal cruelty, environmental reasons, medicinal reasons, animal liberation (much different than animal cruelty), a distaste, a statement against capitalist meat producers, health reasons, religious reasons, detoxification of the system (more so with raw foodists, but still), experimental reasons, or even just because it is not entirely necessary to consume animal products in order to live.

I am a vegan, have some vegan friends, and have exposed myself to plenty of vegan writing. My reasons are collective, and many of them are stated above.

Well, a vegan doesn't eat ANYTHING that comes from an animal in any shape or form...like eggs, honey etc; so, it's a lot more than just meat.

People do it for different reasons, I do it mostly for ethical reasons - I don't support the animal industries, there's way too much animal cruelty going on and I completely despise animal slaughter when I can easily live without.

The plus about being vegan though is that it's SO healthy for you, if you know how to live a vegan lifestyle properly though, that's the key...most people don't.

And last...it's great for the environment!

They believe that we shouldn't have to kill living things by the thousands just to satisfy our own personal needs, as do vegetarians. And I believe that too, I'm a vegetarian, and if we can live a perfectly healthy life without meat, than why should we torture millions of animals just for a little satisfaction?

Well, I had a friend that had found this website. It showed - in gruesome detail - what they did to animals to get our food, and it just made him so sick that every time he tried to eat meat, he nearly threw up. Same went for any kind of animal-related products. He's a vegan now, of course. I'm sure there are other reasons, but that's why my friend did it.

Hello :)

People go vegan for lots of reasons, the most common of which are:

? Health
? It's often thought to be better for the environment
? Animal welfare

Fizzy Roboto: Seeds? Actually, I just ate an entire batch of giant double chocolate cookies :D There are vegan alternatives for almost everything, it's not as though we have to live entirely off of healthy things or anything :)
