I'm a vegan. Why? Because I am against animal abuse, exploitation, murder. Because I don't want to consume an animals fear, I do not want to be a walking grave for an animals flesh. I view that as barbaric. I realize that humans are also animals but you would think that by now we'd be more socially evolved to all realize this...also because this is just the healthiest diet and lifestyle. It is the greenest. I don't think people realize how much their eating meat contributes to things such as global warming...

Im only 14 and im vegetarian. ever since i was very young my parents said i never used to like meat, i would spit it out or just throw it up. when i turned 6 or so i noticed the difference between meat and vegetables and decided i wouldn't eat it at all anymore. it tastes disgusting, it feels disgusting as you chew it, it bleeds sometimes and is disgustingly produced. I have been a full vegetarian for about 5 years (i include fish and chicken as meat). i also don't eat seafood because it tastes yuck

so im a vegetarian because i hate the taste and texture of meat. simple as that. i thank (insert name of something people thank here) everyday that people DO eat meat or else there would be a huge stack of dead animal bodies around wasting into the earth and making it smell bad. i think veganism is the stupidest thing ever

I've just always been a vegetarian - in my line of work it would be v beneficial not to be vegie so I've tried to eat meat but I just can't do it! The thought of eating an animal makes me feel sick :( I don't think that the way that we treat animals is acceptable either so if I did eat meat it would have to be free range or something! I'd never try to push someone into becoming a vegetarian but if it's something that you're interested in then I think that's great! There are some good articles for those considering becoming vegie at http://www.veg-world.com/articles/articl… or check out the vegetarian society. Good luck xxx

Thirty years ago, when I was 16, I saw a report on the show 20/20 and it showed how aninals are treated that are for meat consumption. It all broke my heart, but the image that sticks most in my mind from that partiular show (I've seen many more reports since) was a conveyor belt of young chicks that were alive and going to be killed. One was running backwards on the conveyor belt, runng frantically trying to get away. It was one of the most difficult things I have ever seen.
Have you heard and seen videos of animals who have escaped the slaughter line? For example the pregnant cow in New York who escaped and had to jump into a river. She and her unborn calf ended up at santuary. They were two of very few lucky ones. It's not unommon for animals to try to run to save their lives. It's more common than people think.
By the way, to the poster who said veganism is stupid because of all the dead animals that would be lying around. There are dead animals in meat prodution. They are called "dead piles" and sometimes contain live animals who are very sick. But, the animals are bred by people for meat consumption. If people didn't eat meat, they wouldn't be bred, so to say there would be all these dead animals is not true.
Since then I have also learned the health and environmental benefits of a vegan diet so it keeps me realizing what a powerful and wonderful choie I made 30 years ago.
Thanks for your question. Honest, kind disussions, even on topics on which people don't agree, are good. I respet your choice to eat meat and, from your question, I think you respect my choice to not eat met. Thank you.

Because I've lived in a village where people take care of their own food. I've seen in what cruel manner my grandparents killed pigs, hens, rabbits and whatnot. The animal's in pain, it's even still alive when they start... doing what not. To me killing for food is unnecessary cruelty, as I can perfectly well live a healthy life without meat. One would say that seeing beheaded hen run around or.. a human tearing a pigs head would make me get used to the sight, but it had the opposite effect.

one time i was at sizzler and i had steak and it was rare and that turned me into a vegetarian for a long time. and i just can think of eating meat because iv seen too many movies and i hate to think im eating something that was alive

I found out meat was made of animals.

healthy

I tried to be a vege person for two days but did not like it.
