foam on lentils?(& garbanzo beans..etc)?!


Question: Foam on lentils?(& garbanzo beans..etc)?
everytime i cook lentils and garbanzo beans i get a foam on the surface. i always skim off as much as possible, but just curious what this "foam" actually is....does it need to be removed?

This is normal, and a little bit of oil in the cooking water should keep it from forming and making a mess.



I don't know what it is, but it's always there. Rinse them to eliminate the excess salt and they'll be fine.



Normal. I just rinse them and strain them as I use them.
