Hi. I don't think you're exaggerating. What I think happened is your empathy affected you physically.
Vegan
Eh. I don't think it's necessarily a vegetarian thing. I'm a meat eater and I find the handling of raw meat kind of gross. A lot of other people do also. Just like some people find it nasty to change cat litter and some don't have a problem at all, or others are ok with reptiles and some aren't - people have different ideas of what is sickening. I can touch raw meat, but I certainly don't like the feel or the appearance.
Your over dramatizing it, I know not all vegetarians do this. You are not used to it, you are not raised to understand about where your food comes from so naturally you may think this is not nice site to see. It does not mean that everybody else are blood thirsty people, the reason why they can stomach it, they just deal with it differently.
From personal experience it is not as easy as you think to kill animals, you do it because you have to and it may be part of your job. What you should be thinking is NOT to waste the animal no matter your views, it would defeat the reasons why you are a vegetarian in the first place!!
If you do not want to continue working wit meat then you should re consider your place in that class!!
Don't think about it, replace that bad thought with an other thought that is nice or neutral!!
You are probably over dramatizing it and have talked yourself into believing that such a thing is repulsive though that would be "normal for people like you (vegetarian). In fact people here ask all the time for visual reinforcement so they can be/remain vegetarians.
You yourself said that no one else seemed to mind except you. Unless you are overly egotistical, it is more proper to admit that the "fault" is yours rather than start calling the others derogatory names because they don't share what you believe in with regards to diet. But many people who do eat chicken/meat find the "dirty side" of the meat industry repulsive as well so don't fret over it.
because of the generally "sanitized" conditions of the way we live, most of the realities of life are hidden from us. For example, everybody (or almost everyone) find newborn babies cute and adorable but are repulsed by the sight of a woman, blood smell, screaming in agony and all, during childbirth. Everyone is aware of fathers fainting while watching his child coming out.
The short answer is yes you are normal if you are against eating meat for whatever reason you will be appalled by someone ripping apart a chicken and as i have found most vegetarians and vegans are of a sensitive nature {and i do not mean this is a patronising way] and abhore what they see as cruelty so do not beat yourself up about this stand by your guns you have the right in this country to be what you want without fear of contridiction or ridicule WELL DONE .
Because the majority of people are 'conditioned' from an early age to think of cooking and eating meat as normal... we (I am a meat eater), don't always understand that vegetarians see the entire meat production process as disgusting.
I think, even though I am a meat eater.... that the world will be a better place when we are all vegetarian.
Burnt flesh is what we really eat... calling it a fillet mignon merely makes it sound accepatable.
The other people in your class have probably seen chicken being plucked and made ready for cooking at home whereas you may not have.
If you eat meat (chicken) then you should know something of what happens to it before it arrives cooked on your dinner plate.
If what you saw has put your off meat altogether then you'll have to try becoming a vegetarian (veggie). Nothing wrong with that.

The most organised advanced vegetarians are the Hindus - amazing as it may seem, India is a major exporter of food. How come? Because where as a single acre of land will feed 2 cows at most, it will feed over 50 to 100 people if managed properly and all are vegetarian.
Good luck.
BARBARIAN WELSH MEAT EATING CREATURE
Check out this article concerning the prevalence of women who get nauseous at the sight or smell of meat, and how it relates to their luteal phase and biological aversions to one of the main pathogenic foods.
http://www.sscnet.ucla.edu/anthro/facult…
Here's the abstract of the article:
"Immunosuppression during pregnancy makes the mother vulnerable to pathogens.
Because meat is the principal source of ingestible pathogens, pregnancy raises the costs of meat eating. Natural selection has crafted a mechanism involving changes in nausea susceptibility and olfactory perception that reduces meat consumption during pregnancy.
Evidence is presented showing that the luteal phase is marked by both immunosuppression and changes in nausea susceptibility and olfaction; meat consumption may be reduced during this period, suggesting a mechanism similar to pregnancy sickness.
Constraints on compensatory increases in meat consumption outside of the luteal phase explain why women eat less meat than men.
Meat is the principal target of acquired aversions. Women possess more aversions than men, suggesting that prophylactic mechanisms sometimes result in longstanding dietary changes. Reproductive immunosuppression explains many aspects of dietary behavior and sheds light on factors that may have contributed to gender-based divisions of labor during hominid evolution"
No, you're not being overly dramatic at all, especially given the fact that you are a vegetarian. I'm sure this was really hard for you. I hope that you're feeling better.
Because it's a dead carcass and you arent desensitized by it like most other people.
some people can't tolerate things like that , its understandable xD
Maybe your stomach's gag relax is strong and can't handle certain types of foods. I'm the same way.
Because your a picky eater.
