Question: What should a pregnant woman eat if she's vegetarian?
like what foods will provide all the nutrients and vitamins her baby and her will need.?

Just don't eat anymore babies otherwise you'll get re-pregnant.



A variety of healthy foods? Just like every pregnant woman should.
She'll probably take a prenatal vitamin, as do most omnis, especially one with B12.
Stuff in meat:
Protein- dairy, eggs, soy products, lentils, beans, peas, nuts, seeds, some grains
Iron- many grains (oats, whole wheat pasta, jasmine rice, etc), beans, lentils, peas, some nuts, spinach and other greens, tempeh, tofu, etc
Zinc- many legumes (like chickpeas) and seeds (like pumpkin seeds)
B12- dairy, eggs, nutritional yeast, fortified products
Basically what a regular vegetarian eats, but larger amounts as she's eating for two.

Vegetarianism reduces risk of type 2 diabetes, hypertension, obesity, heart disease, stroke, and certain cancer, so that would reduce risk of premature death from these causes.



I would absolutely ask the obstetrician for a recommendation to a nutritionist if the woman seriously want to be vegetarian while pregnant. Ill health for the mother and irreparable damage to the fetus are almost guaranteed if nutritional requirements are not fulfilled during pregnancy, and there are already too many damaged children out there living off welfare and disability.

Vegetarians die, just like everyone else, as much from environmental factors and accidents and genetics as from diet.



I'm a pregnant vegetarian. To get protein, I eat lentils, tofu, and cheese products. Lentils are also a great source of Folic Acid. Mushrooms are a good source of Vitamin D. Orange vegetables (i.e., carrots, yams, squash) are a good source of Vitamin A.



It isn't hard for veg*ns to have healthy pregnancies.

As far as living longer is concerned, properly planned vegetarian diets may prevent some health problems, but no one is guaranteed a long healthy life.
