I need help convincing my mom to allow me to become a vegetarian...?!

Question: I need help convincing my mom to allow me to become a vegetarian...?
Well, I have been wanting to become one for quite a while and I am starting to get sick of meat. I know wanting to do something and actually doing something are two different things. But my mother says it's something that I shouldn't do. I used my cousin who is a vegetarian going on strong for 5 years, but she said that my aunt doesn't cook and she is not her mom. She also used the excuse that it isn't perfectly healthy for me. I'm 15, so she doesn't necessarily think that I'm not done developing. Which is, again, true. I suggested eating more vegetables and taking vitamins, but it still didn't work.

Any ideas or suggestions?

let it go, human beings are not meant to be vegetarians, dont stress out your body

Offer to cook. If you come up with some meal plans and offer to cook for the family a night or two a week (and clean up), your mom might be more agreeable.

hey just dont eat meat or animal products its quite simple

I have been a vegetarian for four years and am fourteen. First, remember that vegetarianism is a big change. Come up with all the reasons you would like to be a vegetarian, and the pros and cons. You don't have to use this list to convince your mom, but instead it is a good thing for you to look at. Remember that eating more vegetables and taking vitamins is not going to take the place of meat. You will have to eat plenty of beans, and possibly fish as well. Contrary to popular belief, cheese is not a good source of protein for vegetarians. My cousin became a vegetarian when she was twelve and actually stopped growing for three years because she did not have the proper diet. Consider your activities too. If you are heavily involved in sports, this might not be the best option because athletes need plenty of protein and fats. You will also have to compromise with your mom about certain things. I have to eat fish because of activities, but it also makes it easier for my mom to cook. Ask maturely and politely, and if she continues to say no, remember you will be 18 and going to college in three years anyway! Good luck!!
