You know actually as much as I hate too say it and as much as I hate Daisy, she is correct. However if it is not possible nor practical to avoid amoxicillin than go for it. The actual drug is not derived from animals however certain variations could be in forms that contain gelatin or use gel caps. As long as you avoid the gel caps and anything containing animal products you should be fine.

According too Physicians Desk Reference for Amoxil and Augmentin (GSK's version of the drug) as well as Moxatag (MiddleBrook Pharm):
Capsules are gelatin and contain magnesium stearate
Oral Powder is simply powdered amoxil no added ingredients as far as I can tell.
Pediatric drops for oral suppression contain: flavorings (which maybe be animal free but not sure), FD&C red no. 3 (which is potentially harmful but not animal derived as far as I can tell), Sodium Benzoate (which is not animal derived but not healthy for you)

Augmentin:
Oral Powder: Aspartame (artificial sweetener tested on animals possible cause of cancer) and a bunch of artificial junk and flavorings.
Tablets: Magnesium stearate, aspartame and other artificial junk
Basically all other forms are similar (XR and ES-600)

Moxatag which was also listed under amoxicillin doesn't show ingredients as it is a tablet so it is probably, just amoxicillin.
Note: these are not the full ingredient lists and do not list all forms of amoxicillin, however they do list the ones found in PDR and also list ingredients that are not vegan or not really great for you.

I did like the liquid form of it as a really young kid.

I am curious who voted me down...I guess you don't like cold hard facts from recognized medical publications that took a lot of time to research or maybe you don't like the fact someone is being honest about veganism or something else? If you have an issue with my answer I would really love to chat about it via PM I am curious.

EDIT: Daisy you are right about animal ingredients being in a lot of popular items however you clearly don't understand veganism, I suggest you check Donald Watson's definition. you also make baseless claims about B12 without knowledge of history, farming and science. You also are simply a troll trying to attack veganism through ridiculous means because actually understanding it might mean you could become vegan and you are afraid. I don't see you as being correct on veganism ever just correct that some things contain animals however I already knew that. Veganism is not about 100% it is about being practical and possible in your elimination of animal exploitation from your life. Plus with everything you mention it sounds like you should already either be vegan or have committed suicide due to the pressure of it all.

vegan because animals are not property also my dad is a doctor hence the PDR

The antibiotics prescribed today are all synthetic, and before that, penicillin itself was discovered in a fungus with no help from animal byproducts. I don't see why they would feel the need to add them now.

Regardless, it was probably tested on animals... All medicines are. You have to weigh the importance of your own survival against maintaining absolute purity of your lifestyle. I'm not trying to hate, but I would choose life, myself. Veganism and vegetarianism only works if you have a choice. When you don't have a choice, you must concede or perish. Even the most hardcore vegans know this.

Personal experience. Also, lived in an animal rights camp surrounded by vegans (when I myself was vegan).

It doesn't contain any animal byproducts to my knowledge, but truthfully, there is no such thing as a vegan friendly medication. Every medicine on the market has been tested on animals at some point, it's required by the FDA. In any event, if you've been prescribed amoxicillin you need to take it, you have an infection of some kind and it's best for you

Yes its vegan. all "cillins" (penicillin) are either synthetic or produced by fungi.

I hope your not weighing taking important medicine versus staying vegan, cause technicality a blood transfusion is not vegan either.

I'm a SDA and most of my family are Vegans too, I and don't eat pork, but Ill bite the hell out a pig if it will save my life.

No, it's not vegan. It's been tested on animals. Plus manufacturers take a syringe from every batch and test it on animals (mice or rabbits) before they ship that batch of syringes out to doctors, clinics, etc.

"FREE", I'm laughing. You may hate me, but if you're honest, you will admit that I'm usually right in my posts. BTW, being hateful won't change the fact that there is no such thing as an animal-free life or a blood free diet.
