If its not organic is it bad for you?!

Question: If its not organic is it bad for you?
I buy a lot of fruit and veggies in the grocery store but I dont get organic. I wash off what I eat but is there stuff still on it or even IN my fruits and veggies like preservatives or pesticides or anything?

For instance my apple I just ate wasn't organic but I washed it, is it okay and still healthy?

You're still getting the benefits of the fruits and vegetables...just with a dose of pesticides too.

Vegan

Not necessarily.

There are many organic products that are unhealthy, and there are many processed foods that are healthy.

For example, organic meat is filled with saturated fat and cholesterol.

While processed fruits and vegetables are high in fiber, vitamins, minerals, and low in calories.

The key is to watch out for the sodium and sugar content.

Look for vegetables that say "no salt added" and fruits prepared in "light syrup" instead of heavy syrup.

Vegetarian

No, organic is a marketing claim, not a health claim. If you're in the US, you might be interested that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) says organic foods are no healthier, safer or more nutritious than their non-organic counterparts. If it'll make you feel smarter, spend your money on organics. Otherwise, just eat and enjoy.

BTW, I certainly wash apples before I eat them. They are handled a lot on the trip from the orchard to your grocery.

Link is to a British study that came to the same conclusion as the USDA.

It's a good question. I like to think that a good wash will clean off any chemicals, pesticides etc but I have a feeling that some may well infiltrate the fruit/veg. My thinking is that these chemicals have been around for a long time and I've not felt any ill effects yet, but maybe I'm naive and I may suffer long term effects later in life. I hope not as I'm a vegetarian! I suppose organic is the only answer but it's so expensive.

the nonorganic apples are actually the fruit with the number1 most pesticides haha
u should really get organic at least from trader joes
for dairy tho not organic is healthier according to eatingwell.com
like chobani plain vanilla better 4u than stonyfieldfarm yogurt so ya

yes, there are still pesticides inside the fruit. There were toxins in everything that caused that piece of fruit to grow, like the soil.

No, there are still pesticides used in growing organic produce.

"Organic" just means that said pesticides were not synthetic.

the fruit and veggies now not original, mix pesticides, so must be carefull

Alot of people have been boasting about getting an Apple iPad for free and at last I have found where they have been getting them from. Here is the site http://asylum.name/0/NHLSG2
