Anyone else who hates tofu?!

Question: Anyone else who hates tofu?
I'm a veggie and I HATE tofu! I know it's like an alternative to meat....but it's just gross in my opinion. Anyone else think that? Or in what foods can I combine to eat with so it tastes less nasty for me?

thanks!! :)

If you eat it with no flavorings then yes it is horrible but that is because it is not meant too be eaten plain.

Here are tons of tofu recipes that won't suck

Always remember tofu is a vehicle for flavor and with different cooking methods and preparations you have plenty of options.

For a meatier texture freeze a block of extra firm tofu and then thaw it and press it. Try adding some silken tofu to sauces or smoothies to add body and nutrients.

Vegan because animals are not property and chef

Tofu is good, but it depends how you make it.

Many people who cook tofu don't slice the tofu into thin pieces and they forget to drain out the water AND pat down the tofu with a paper towel.

If you don't get the water out, it will taste like mush.

I still don't know how to cook a good tofu, so I usually buy mine at a chinese restaurant.

Sesame tofu and general tso's tofu is good, but it depends where you buy it from.
Some restaurants really know how to cook it, but many don't.
Fancy chinese restautants that have waiters and tables tend to have the best tofu.

Vegetarian

I love crispy tofu in sweet and sour sauce with veggies and rice. So yum. But you don't need to eat tofu if you don't like it. You can get "fake-meat" from your local supermarket.
In the UK you can get Quorn and Linda Mcartney meat substitutes as well as lots of major supermarket own brand versions.
In the US the only one I know about is Morning Star which is delish. Just look around, good luck !

I am a vegetarian as well and struggle because I do not like tofu. I simply do not like the texture, causing difficulty with mixing it. I replace tofu with dark vegetables such as spinach, and lots of beans and lentils. Make sure that you simply don't just cut out the essential protein out of your diet completely.

I can safely and happily say, ive never even tasted tofu. And i dont want to. I dont eat alot of fake meat either. Once a week is okay with me though. Natural, whole foods are a whole lot more nutricious. The less its been worked on, the better it is for you. Why not make your own 'fake' meat. Theres plenty of recipes online. By just using beans.

Me. A very healthy vegetarian

I'm not a big fan of tofu so it's a good thing that you can get plenty of protein without it. It's okay in tofu scramble or baked with barbecue sauce and turned into sandwiches.

Why bother trying to make it taste good? You don't need to eat it.

If you REALLY want to eat it though, you can buy pre-flavoured tofu and incorporate it into burgers, stir-fries, and soups.

Yes. Tofu is nasty. I'm no culinary expert, but even if I was, there's no foreseeable way to make it any better.

What about Banana tofu? I dont like normal tofu but banana tofu, trust me it dosn't taste like banans but it kind of has a taste of mango ;)

BTW I'm a veggie.

I don't hate tofu, I love it. I usually dip them in soy sauce or eat it with rice.
