Vegans: What is your opinion on the Animal Liberation Front and Earth Liberation Front?!

Question: Vegans: What is your opinion on the Animal Liberation Front and Earth Liberation Front?
Answers:

'If we are trespassing, so were the soldiers who broke down the gates of Hitler's death camps; If we are thieves, so were the members of the Underground Railroad who freed the slaves of the South; And if we are vandals, so were those who destroyed forever the gas chambers of Buchanwald and Auschwitz.'

Enough said.

Edit: In response to Herbivor, the ALF never endangers the life of any animal, human or nonhuman. It is strictly against their guidelines. If an action does endanger a life (innocent or not), then it is not an ALF action. The ELF is also strictly nonviolent. I am not condemning the use of violence, just saying that the ALF doesn't use violence. Activists who do use violence sometimes use names like Revolutionary Cells, Justice Department, and Animal Rights Militia.

Have no problems with them. I think they are a two great ideas and tactics and collections of various random cells. They have never harmed anyone of any species nor have they intended too. They do destroy lifeless objects but those objects can be replaced the lives taken by those the ALF and ELF targets cannot be.

I think Bob Barker (host of the Price is Right) said it best:
“I think that the ALF, the Animal Liberation Front, is probably, has in recent years, probably been
one of the most effective, if not the most effective, element of the animal rights movement.”

If the ALF and ELF has done something wrong then everybody who has ever stood up for what they believe has done something wrong.

When the government bombs civilians they call it liberation. When the ALF liberates animals they call it terrorism...I don't get it?

My only problem with ALF/ELF and underground style actions is that the people who do them are people and they naturally want to talk and interact with others which makes it hard to keep doing actions without being caught. One of the most recent cases Walter "Lone Wolf" Bond was caught because his dirty rotten brother (whom he previous helped by blowing up the drug dealers who were dealing to his brother and then went to jail for it) turned him in, however it was because Walter's natural want to keep in touch with friends and family he loves and cares for that his brother was able to turn him in. This is not an attack on Walter whom I fully support and wish well but a note on the humyn psyche and how it is dangerous in their line of work.

If liberating those you love and that which you live on is somehow wrong, I don't want to be right!

vegan because animals are not property

I have been a vegan for years and used to be a vegetarian since I was very young, but I have never felt the need to belong to an organised group nor to join protests, marches, etc.
I am not a warrior or a fighter and any kind of violence freaks me out. But I have friends who have been/are activists in the AR movement, have been arrested, tried, fined, etc. There's enough space for all of us. it's a matter of personal opinion and taste.

Sometimes questionable tactics but you could expect that from any group that has no organisation. There are some things a person claiming to be ALF does that I agree with and others that I do not. I really don't mind the damage/destruction of someone's belongings (say a factory farm), I just take issue and oppose a tactic if threats to health and life are played.

Love them. Change does not come about through peaceful talks and negotiations. Change comes about through action and people getting involved. Whatever draws attention to animal rights and the environment is okay with me.

vegan :D

My opinion is that they are composed primarily of misguided, self-absorbed criminals.

I love them...and I may or may not be a member
