For those who are vegetarians....?!

Question: For those who are vegetarians....?
why aren't you vegan? is it too hard to completely cut out all dairy/animal products from your lifestyle?

Answers:

Because I don't think milking cows and using their milk for food is wrong while I do think slaughtering animals and using their meat for food is wrong. Still I generally only eat organic dairy.

It is definitely difficult.
98% of restaurants don't have entrees for vegans.
Most supermarkets only have fruits and vegetables for vegans.
I would go vegan, but I would literally have to cook all my meals in order to do it.
I'm not a good cook, so it would definitely be inconvenient for me.
Being a vegetarian is already inconvenient, but it's much easier to find things that are accidently vegetarian that may have honey, dairy, or eggs than to find something completely free of any animal products or by products.

I would definitely go vegan, if I had access to quality vegan cheeses. I already have an egg replacer, and I'm good at making scrambled tofu. But I still haven't found a good vegan cheese.

To Deer Hunter: why do you post on a vegetarian forum, if you have nothing positive to say?
All of your posts have anger.

Vegetarian

Personally for me, I find it really hard. I try to cut back when I can, but for the most part I just love dairy. I don't eat eggs, but I will eat them through pastry products. Also with my current lifestyle I don't think it would be possible, I'm only 16 and my parents find it hard enough to deal with my vegetarian ways already. I admire those who are vegans though, it takes alot of will power! But for the most part I am still proud of myself for being a vegetarian :)

I think it would be difficult, yes, but not impossible. I thought being vegetarian would be hard, and I have foundd most aspect pretty easy. It's quite a leap from vegetarian to vegan though, depending on how strict you want to be with sugar, alcohol, etc.

Personally, i am not vegan and probably never will be because it gives me a lot more options to be vegetarian. Also, I love to bake. I know there are vegan recipes, but I don't like them as much. One day I hope to cut down on my cheese, egg, milk etc. consumption, but not completely. Also, a true vegetarian lifestyle including free run eggs and all that is cruelty free, which is my main concern.

Maybe you are reading too much into it so you ended up ignoring the meaning of the words "lifestyle choice". Omnivore, vegetarian and vegan diets are all just options that people can make based on their own preferences. They are not really about "cutting off" something in order to just fit into a description but living your life the way you see fit.

I'm a vegan.
It kind of puzzles me too, especially if a vegetarian is such for ethical reasons.
I went from an omnivore to a vegan overnight (...literally) so it's a bit difficult for me to understand the sentiment that it's somehow "difficult".

It's like "I hate animal torture, but not as much as I love cheese."

What the hell?

in this soceity yes its a bit hard to do that, im vege, thats who i am, part of me wants to be vegan, but i just dont know how i would personally still be me if i was,

its a loaded q , its not your fault it is, it just is
it can go either way, the answers can feel insulted by being questoned, or they can insult vegans in some way
its not an easy one to ask, or answer without upsetting someone

;-)

Well, I don't eat eggs, and I don't eat meat. I do however eat dairy products, but only if they're humanely made, from farms that don't give the cows chemicals or anything...
I do my research to make sure that no animal is being harmed.
And yes, it does cost a little bit more, but in my opinion, it's totally worth it knowing that you're supporting the right way of treating animals :)

You're assuming we're all veggie for the same reason.

I don't eat meat, because I find the concept of eating dead flesh revolting. Milk, eggs etc aren't meat. I'll wear leather shoes because I don't eat my shoes.

Veganism isn't some "holy grail" to attain for me, I've no more wish to be vegan than I have to be a hatstand. I've been veggie for nearly 20 years and I'm quite happy with that, thankyouverymuch.

When I was a vegetarian, it was because I wasn't aware of the cruelty in dairy farms. When I became more aware of that, I made a commitment to go vegan

Why is there a pushy hunter in this section anyway answering questions that have nothing to do with him?

I'm considering it, though I love pizza with real cheese.
Also it's too difficult to tell what has animal products and what doesn't these days..you have to be super picky.

Because not everyone is vegetarian for the animals. Im vegetarian for health reasons. And i hate the taste of meat.

Yes it is very hard and why should we cut out animal products. Vegans may not eat animal products, but I am sure that they use leather belts and shoes and probably other products that are made from animals, so there is egg in your face. We are not made to be vegans think about your mouth and you will find canines, incisors and molars and what ever else the different teeth are called. A lot of that is used for eating Meat. As for all those people that want to rant about animal rights and how cruel it is, think of this we meat eaters do not rant and complain about the poor plants that have no chance and all the insects and other pests that have to be killed in order to produce more vegetables for you to eat. Why that poor tomato had no chance to fight back at least the cow maybe could kick somebody or run away if given the chance . In fact to feed more people coming out as vegans they probable had to clear more land and destroy a lot more ecology than needed, that means less areas for animals that need their environmental niche. Now as for people that say eat vegetables only that their choice, but if what I heard is correct and 1 out 4 American children are going hungry I say to you why would you try and limit what they could eat.

It honestly is difficult. Think about it: people who were once normal, meat-loving people all of a sudden decided to be vegetarian, which is difficult enough, but to even further cut out everything else...it really is too hard. So I guess that's your answer. It's too hard for me, at least. I'm not entirely vegetarian (I still eat chicken and fish) but I am mostly, and have been since the 5th grade. And it's the same reason why I can't give up chicken...sorry...I digress...

I'm 20. I am vegetarian since i was 10. My mother brought me to doctors because i couldn't stand red meat since i was a baby. He said it's not a bad thing at all. I 've been eating fish and white meat till the age of ten and then my mother started to make special meals only for me. I don't eat meat know just because i'm not used to it. Not because of nature, animals etc.
Veganism is something i hate. Why would people do that? It's not necessary or healthy at all. And it's just for people who have nothing to do with their money at least in my country. It's veeeery expensive to be a vegan. and i'm obsessed with milk and cheese.

I'll choose to eat what I like, thank you very much. I don't eat beef, lamb or pig on certain principles, but I feel no guilt in eating animal products. Are you vegan then? Well, why aren't you a fruitarian? Is it too hard to cut out vegetables and grains from your lifestyle?

I really need the protein. I would love to eliminate dairy, but I love cheese so much.

Hard? Maybe they just don't want to. Its none of your Business what I or anybody else eats.

noooo meat is good for you thats why god created cows and pig ummmm
